Mona Singh is one of the most talented actresses in Indian entertainment industry. The diva started her journey with the hit serial, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, which gave her widespread fame and household recognition. Thereafter, it was her debut with Aamir Khan’s popular film, 3 Idiots which led her to unparalleled stardom.
Mona Singh and Aamir Khan enjoy a great equation, ever since they collaborated for the film, 3 Idiots in 2009. Thereafter, they crossed paths again for the film, Laal Singh Chadha. Talking about her experience of working with the superstar again, Mona, in a recent interaction with Entertainment Live, revealed getting slightly offended when Aamir called him to audition for a role. In her words:
“We were talking during the shoot of Laal Singh Chaddha. I haven’t given many auditions after Jassi. I used to get shows without auditions. So, I used to feel why is someone calling me for an audition. I used to take it personally ki inko bharosa nahin hai ki audition ke liye bula rahe hain. So, I told Aamir sir that they called me for Laal Singh’s audition but I don’t feel comfortable with auditions.”

While she was at first taken aback and slightly offended when she was called for an audition, she credited Aamir Khan for making her understand how giving auditions isn’t bad and is a normal thing for actors of all ages and experience. Revealing what the superstar told her, Mona said:
“You should think about the makers as well. They need to see whether you look like the character or not. What is your accent? If you match it a little bit also, makers become sure that you can pull off the character. But if it doesn’t match a bit, they get to know in the audition itself. That does not mean you are good or bad. Nobody is judging you. They are only seeing whether they will get their character in the actor or not.”
Previously, in an interaction with the Humans Of Bombay, Mona Singh narrated a hilarious anecdote concerning her famous delivery scene in the movie, 3 Idiots. The entire sequence was shot when she was lying on a TT table, and at the end of it, she had to slap her co-star, Aamir Khan. Mona mentioned how Aamir motivated her to slap him with full force, and when she did it, even the actor’s bodyguard was mighty surprised. In her words:
“Then Aamir sir told me, 'Mona, you slap me.' Then I slapped him, but it wasn’t hard enough, and he was like, 'Asli vala thappad maro (Give me a real slap).' I went full Sardarni josh, and I slapped him. I remember his bodyguard staring at me, and I was like, 'Sorry.' But Aamir sir continued acting because that’s what he loves. He wants it to be all real, and I gave it all real."

In the same interview, Mona Singh reflected on the kind of equation she has with Aamir Khan. The duo, who have collaborated over two great films, share a bond like no other. She revealed how Aamir calls her mummy and even wished her on Mother's Day. For Mona, watching Aamir Khan is like learning at film school, and she considers him as a true epitome of a perfectionist.
