Popular television actress, Kratika Sengar and her hubby, Nikitin Dheer are on cloud nine as they are all set to join the parenthood league. Nikitin and Kratika had got married to each other on September 3, 2014, and had begun their happily ever after. And after seven years of marital bliss, it was on November 13, 2021, when the adorable couple had delighted their massive fan base with the good news of their pregnancy.
Now, in an interview with a leading news portal, Kratika Sengar talked about embracing motherhood for the first time. She revealed why she and her hubby, Nikitin took so many years to have a baby and also shared his first reaction after hearing about her pregnancy news. The actress is in her third trimester right now and shared that her mother-in-law has prepared everything for her soon-to-be-born baby.

In an interview with ETimes, Kratika Sengar opened up about her first pregnancy and revealed why she and her hubby, Nikitin took a long time to start a family. Talking about the reason why they didn't think about getting pregnant during the pandemic, the actress shared that since it was a difficult time for everyone, they had decided that it was not the best time to have a baby. In her words:
"During lockdown every other person was having babies and getting married. But for us it was not that case. Nikitin and I were not at all in that mind frame to get pregnant or have babies as everyone was losing their loved ones. It was such a difficult time. We were not even sure of the future. How could we even think of having a new life into this world. I feel people who had babies in the lockdown they did not plan it. It happened because both the partners were at home together. Nikitin and I were very sure that it is not the time to think of having a baby. Humein apni he Zindagii ka nahi Pata tha kya horaha hai, we all were dealing with the pandemic."
The mommy-to-be shared that during the 5-6 years of her marriage with Nikitin, she had to fulfil her work commitments so starting a family was not an option for her. She also added that she was not prepared to have a baby then, and thus, getting pregnant was not on her list all this while. Talking about the same, she said:
"But when the situation got better, I was not mentally prepared to have a baby. All this while I was working and had my commitments so there was never a question of starting a family. It’s only when I got a little free and I had time in hand, I started thinking of starting a family. During the first 5-6 years of marriage, I was not mentally prepared to have a baby. When you are a working women and when you become pregnant you know that you will have to give your full time to the baby and you will be away from work so for that you need to be mentally prepared."

Further in the interview, Kratika shared her hubby, Nikitin's reaction after hearing the news about her pregnancy. She mentioned that when the test had come out positive she was lost as she was not expecting to get pregnant so soon. Recalling how Nikitin had thought that she was doing a prank on him, Kratika shared:
"I did a home test because the symptoms were similar to pregnancy. The moment it showed positive, I just sat in the bathroom. I didn’t share the news with anyone for the next four hours. Nikitin was in another room, I was just going inside the room and coming out and he saw me doing that. He told me why can’t you just sit why are you going in and out. Then I told him “I am pregnant”, he just started laughing. He told me I should have found a better time to do a prank. Then I showed him the test and he started screaming with joy."
Kratika Sengar is in her third trimester right now, and it's almost time for her to deliver her first child. In the same interview, the actress shared that her mom-in-law and sister-in-law have made all the necessary preparation for the arrival of her baby. From making her maternity bag to getting the stuff for the baby, Kratika's doting saasu-maa has taken care of everything. In her words:
"I want to say this that from getting all the stuff for the baby and me, making the list, to preparing my maternity bag, everything is done by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Kaun se drawer mein kya hoga, kitna saaman aasakta hai room mein, they have taken care of everything. My sister-in-law is a pro because she had twins a year ago. Her entire memory is fresh and she was the most excited when we shared the pregnancy news."
