It happened after Brittany recently got a temporary domestic violence restraining order against her ex-husband, Jax Taylor. She had filed for the same with serious allegations in court about how he had allegedly threatened to kill her. Meanwhile, Jax has rejected some of the claims and said the "full story" will eventually come out.
Brittany Cartwright gets a restraining order against Jax Taylor
According to court filings, Brittany Cartwright has requested legal protection. She filed documents asking for the same, where she alleged that she had been a victim of her ex-husband, Jax's, abusive behavior from when they were together. Taking her claims into consideration, a Los Angeles judge granted the temporary restraining order. It states that Jax must remain at least 100 yards away from the bar.
Brittany also requested sole custody of their five-year-old son, Cruz. However, the judge denied it. So, the custody hearings might again come up in a future court. Still, the filings are the latest development in the highly publicized divorce between the former Vanderpump Rules stars.
According to Brittany's documentation in court, she claimed there was a long pattern of control, emotional abuse, financial manipulation, and physical aggression in their relationship when they were together. Among other allegations, she said that he once told her that he would "gut her like a fish." Brittany also claimed that he physically attacked her, threw furniture during arguments, and damaged personal property. He broke multiple of her iPhones, an iPad, and other items in their home.
At the same time, Brittany mentioned that Jax somehow got access to her phones, messages, and social media without her approval. She called him out for deleting her messages, keeping her wedding ring, and using child and spouse support discussions to threaten her after they separated.
After allegations were made against Jax Taylor, he released a brief statement acknowledging that he had made mistakes during their time together. He calls it one of the "darkest phases of his life." Still, he denied many of her accusations. In his words:
"I got help, went to treatment, and today I'm 1 year and 9 months sober. I've remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life. The full story, context, and evidence will be addressed where it belongs, in court. I will respect the court's orders and the legal process."
At the same time, he asked why the allegations involving events from many years ago had come to light now. Jax highlighted how there were no police reports, nor were criminal charges filed related to some of the alleged events. Meanwhile, he expressed his faith in the legal system and mentioned how he is focused on raising his 5-year-old son.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright first met in Las Vegas in 2015. Soon, they became one of the most-talked-about couples on Vanderpump Rules. Soon, Brittany moved to LA to be with Jax, and that became a central plot for Bravo's reality series.
They had a major cheating scandal, but Brittany decided to let go, and they reconciled. Eventually, they got engaged in 2018 and had a grand wedding in 2019 in Kentucky. However, Jax's mental health struggles and lack of adequate communication led to the breakdown of their relationship.
The latest court update did not come overnight. Instead, Jax and Brittany's relationship has faced public scrutiny for years. After they separated in 2024, there was significant hostility between them. Their disagreements came to the point where they often used the media to call each other out.
