To this, the actor revealed that although no one can erase his memories of those days when he lived in Kashmir, he doesn't miss the place. He revealed how there was a constant terror of losing one's life every moment. Mohit said:

“No, not now. I was around 8-9 when I moved out of Kashmir. My childhood was there. Back then, when the issues had started in Kashmir, it was a tough time for everyone, so even we saw those tough times. I remember everything- like watching my school burn. These are very personal things, I don’t think people can understand these things. Like, going to the school in the morning being unaware of how will you come back, witnessing firing.”

Mohit on why he loves to play the part of an Army officer onscreen

Further, Mohit Raina shared how he witnessed firing, watched his school get burnt down, him and his family getting caught in a crossfire and many other such instances. Thus, explaining how, right from childhood, his superheroes were the army men in Kashmir, he mentioned that this is the only reason he keeps playing several characters of an Army officer onscreen. He added:

“I saw the Army since my childhood–army men were always around–so I used to think very heroic of the uniform and of the Army. Because of that, my connection with the uniform is a lot, which is why I have played these parts a lot. So I never let go of that opportunity, whether big or small.”

Mohit also recalled an incident when he was only eight years old. He mentioned being in an almost death situation when he was standing on one part of the street with his family and his sibling was on the other side and suddenly firing had started. Narrating the same, he shared:

“When you are an 8-year-old kid, standing in a street with one of your parents and your sibling on the opposite end and there is firing going on in the middle… You understand that you have seen a lot in life."

In the same conversation, Mohit shared how the simple task of going to school was also a nightmare, and the army men used to keep their lives at risk to save the civilians. Mohit concluded:

"When the men in uniform are trying to save civilians and are coming towards them, but the civilians are thinking that if those in uniform come towards them, the counterattack will also be on them. In that spur of the moment, you have to decide what to do, where to go. These things teach you a lot in life.”
