Minka Kelly Reveals She Tried To Get BF Dan Reynolds Back In 'Ransom Canyon' S2, 'Down To Play..'

Those who watched Season 1 of the show might already be aware that Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds had made a surprise appearance in the Netflix series. Now, with Season 2 airing, actor Minka Kelly revealed that Dan almost made his way back to the show this time too.
Minka Kelly tried to convince her boyfriend, Dan Reynolds to appear in Ransom Canyon Season 2
In Season 1 of Ransom Canyon, Dan Reynolds appeared as a cattle buyer named 'Billy Banks.' His girlfriend, Minka Kelly, who also stars in the show, revealed in a recent interview that she had tried to get her boyfriend back on-screen in the latest installment. She was quoted as saying, “We tried to find a way to bring Billy Brinks back. I was like, ‘Maybe the triangle is with Billy Brinks.’”
For the unversed, in Ransom Canyon Season 2, Minka’s character ‘Quinn’ can be seen returning to the small town in Texas after spending around six months in New York City. After returning, she realized that her longtime love, ‘Staten’ (Josh Duhamel), was no longer the same as he was before. Amid this, the arrival of her East Coast boyfriend, ‘Oliver’ (Ben Robson), makes things more complicated.
Speaking about the Imagine Dragons frontman, Minka added, ‘Sadly, he was unavailable. He's a little busy.” She shared that when Dan had visited the show's set during the filming of Season 1, “everyone, all the producers and writers, just naturally fell in love with him, as you do.” Minka claimed that it is very “easy to love Dan.” Recalling what the makers told her, she said:
“They just asked one day, ‘Do you think he’d play this character?’ And I just was like, ‘Let me ask him.’ And he was such a good sport and down to play.”
According to Minka, Dan was “surprisingly nervous” to act in the scene. This led the actress to question how her boyfriend could be nervous, especially considering what he does for a living. However, she understood that it might be due to the different environment.

During the same interview, Minka Kelly further opened up about her character ‘Quinn.’ She claimed that ‘Quinn’ wasn't meant to be in a triangle. In fact, all she wanted was to move on. Noting the six-month time jump, Minka stated:
“She really wanted to move on. She was very frustrated at the end of season 1, and so she went to New York to fulfil her purpose and her dream to play with the New York Philharmonic, and she’s living in New York and having a good time. She meets someone else, and it’s easy to romanticize this new shiny thing.”
When ‘Quinn' comes home, she finds a new side of ‘Staten’ whom she had not seen previously. However, despite him saying all the right things this time, according to Minka, it was just too late for him. She added:
“She goes home and is, to her surprise, faced with this very new, charming, funny, silly version of Staten, who’s telling her everything she’s ever wanted to hear from him, and it’s just a little too late. It just goes to show it takes a long time to learn how to figure that sort of thing out. It’s something we can all relate to. Relationships are hard, and big decisions are hard to make when you want to do the right thing.”
