'Off Campus' Mika Abdalla Got Surprise Proposal On Camera By Ex-Fiance, Jake Short, Re-Living Past

Mika Abdalla, who rose to fame with her Amazon Prime series, Off Campus, has been dealing with a tough time as she called it quits with her fiancé, Jake Short. For the unversed, a representative of Mika revealed that she and her fiancé are no longer together, but they continue to support each other and are on friendly terms. Amidst it, fans are recollecting the times when Jake proposed to Mika on-camera.

Jake Short proposed to Mika Abdalla for marriage on camera

Jake and Mika met each other in 2022 while filming for the teen comedy, Sex Appeal. They played love interests in the film, and their onscreen chemistry was loved by all. They started dating. In 2024, Jake jokingly proposed to Mika in an episode of The American High.

He shared that she keeps asking him when they will get married every day. Jake then playfully asked her, "Will you marry me?" And she said yes. Jermey Gotelick joked that it was the most romantic proposal of all time. Later, when Mika arrived on the podcast, the host jokingly offered to host their wedding, which Abdalla accepted.

However, reportedly, she is suffering from personal heartbreak as she broke up with Jake Short. Mika's representative shared a statement to US Weekly, which can be read as:

"Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together. They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect."

Mika talked about her story in Off Campus season 2

Talking about Mika's professional front, she is starring in Off Campus season 2, which will focus on her love story with on-screen boyfriend, Dean. She revealed that she was afraid to spill the beans about the situation. She shared that she knew that her character would take the centre stage after season 1. She was quoted as saying:

"I was afraid that I was gonna spill the beans on the situation. I knew before the first audition that we were kind of gonna dip into Allie’s story more than you would expect in season 1, so I had a little idea going into it. All I was thinking is, How are we going to do press? and what am I going to talk about? Because I literally can’t talk about anything that I was doing."

Further, Mika talked about the show and how her on-screen love story will move forward in the second season 2 and second 3. She was quoted as saying:

"Dean and Allie has definitely been a really hard secret because it’s such a cool part of the season 1. People theorizing what season 2 might be or what season 3 might be and it’s like, Oh, you’re gonna get season 1 Dean and Allie as well."

It is worth mentioning that gossipmongers believed that Mika's breakup happened due to her on-screen relationship with Stephen. The two actors shared a beautiful, goofy friendship which was visible online. Many have taken to the comments section and claimed the same. But some supported Stephen and stated that he is engaged. There was a section of people who claimed that Mika left her boyfriend due to her on-screen popularity.
