The first early reviews for Michael, the highly anticipated biopic on the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, have been out, and a good picture has been painted. Antoine Fuqua has directed the musical biopic, and Michael's nephew, Jaafar, will play his legendary uncle. Michael is set to release in theatres on April 24, 2026, and traces Jackson's life from his youth.
The makers of Michael have ensured that the storyline is shown in a safe way. The movie showcases Michael's rise to solo stardom in the 1980s. It has also showcased his life on and off stage. Jaafar has ensured that, with his performance, he gives all MJ fans a front-row seat experience. He has tried his best to live up to the ambition.

Child actor, Juliano Valdi plays the role of Jackson from his childhood. The musical biopic feels relatable to Michael Jackson's life because of Jaafar's casting as a member of the legendary Jackson family. Jaafar does not sing in the movie, which is a little bothersome, but it makes us totally believe that Michael Jackson is right here with us. What stands out in the movie is Jaafar Jackson's commanding performance. It is interesting to note that Jaafar had never acted in a movie before, but he has perfectly nailed the look, voice, and electric moves, which have actually set Michael apart. Jaafar has an earthbound cuteness in the film that gives him significant leverage to expose Michael's vulnerability. Jaafar, in a way, showcases Michael Jackson's electric performance.

On one hand, Michael Jackson's nephew, Jaafar, played the role of a superstar and stole the limelight from Juliano Valdi. The film opens up to the time when Michael was actually 10 years old. More cast members in the music biopic include Miles Teller, who plays attorney John Branca. There is Colman Domingo, who essays the role of Michael's dad, Joe Jackson. There is also Kat Graham, who plays 'Diana Ross', and Nia Long plays 'Katherine Jackson'. Michael Jackson's sister, Janet Jackson, is missing, whereas Laura Harrier plays 'Suzanne de Passe', Kendrick Sampson essays 'Quincy Jones' and Amaya Mendoza as young La Toya Jackson have been seen. An international tabloid commented on what stands out in the film, reportedly:
"But does he ever nail the look, the voice, the electrostatic moves - and, more than that, the mixture of delicacy and steel that made Michael who he was. The music scenes nonetheless are quite brilliant and thrilling — Jaafar is an accomplished impressionist."

According to social media comments, a report by ETV Bharat revealed that the characters in the biopic are robbed of their souls and that it is frustrating to watch. Discussions about the movie, rather than exploring the controversial aspects of the singer's life, are missing. The film is like an 80s TV movie version of Michael Jackson's story, but the acting could have been sharper. Colman Domingo, under heavy prosthetics, plays the role of 'Joe Jackson', who is Michael's dad, whom the late King of Pop had to fight to kind of free himself. A Hollywood Reporter report revealed that the movie leaves itself open to accusations of making Michael a saint, which will not sit well with the crowd. A part of the statement, as mentioned by the publication, read:

"If you are unwilling to separate the art from the artist, this will not be a movie for you. But for lifelong fans who cherish the music, the movie delivers. Simply as a celebration of Jackson’s songs and stagecraft, it’s phenomenal, shot by Dion Beebe with visual electricity in the performance sequences. The music has never sounded louder or better.”
