Michael admitted he was involved with both women at different points during his separation from his ex-wife, Diandra Douglas. After keeping the affairs secret for four decades, the actor broke his silence.
Michael Douglas' ill-fated relationship with Diane Thomas, she died in his gifted car
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner have long been speculated to be more than just co-stars, and through his new memoir, he himself confirmed that they had an affair when he was separated from Diandra Douglas. The duo's chemistry was on display for everybody to see and thus became a widely discussed affair in the '80s.
However, what wasn't visible was that before falling head over heels for his Romancing the Stone co-star, Michael was attracted to the movie's screenwriter, Diane Thomas. Diane's work was behind the scenes, and so was her romance with Michael Douglas. In One Helluva Ride, the actor admitted to having a brief fling with her before meeting Kathleen.

Michael claimed that when he was seeing Diane Thomas, both he and his ex-wife, Diandra were having extramarital affairs. Michael and Diane's fling probably ended when Kathleen came into the picture. Diane remained close to Michael, even though they no longer shared romantic feelings for each other. After Romancing the Stone's success, the team tried to ideate on the sequel- The Jewel of the Nile.
At that time, Diane Thomas helped punch up and consult on the script, and as a gesture of gratitude, Michael wanted to give her a gift. On asking her what she wanted, she asked for a Porsche, and the actor bought her a Porsche Carrera. Just weeks later, on October 21, 1985, Diane met with a fatal road accident in California and tragically lost her life in the very sports car she loved so dearly.
On that ill-fated day, Diane was a backseat passenger, and her boyfriend, Stephen Norman, was driving at roughly 80 mph (130 km/h). As a result of speeding on a rainy day, the car spun out and struck a telephone pole, killing Diane instantly. Another friend, Ian Young, a fellow passenger, passed away after 2 hours in a hospital, and Stephen was left with injuries. The latter was then convicted of manslaughter.
After ending his fling with Diane Thomas, Michael Douglas had a secret affair with Kathleen Turner

In his memoir, Michael Douglas revealed that he and Kathleen Turner fell for each other while they were making the 1984 film Romancing the Stone in Mexico. In addition to playing the dashing adventurer 'Jack Colton,' Michael also produced the action-comedy. Kathleen Turner, a rising star back then, played New York City journalist 'Joan Wilder,' who rescues her sisters from kidnappers in Colombia with the help of Michael's character.
Michael Douglas recalled that he and Kathleen Turner were instantly attracted to each other. On the other hand, things at home with his wife weren't good, with both of them having extramarital affairs. In his words:
"Kathleen was smart, funny, and sexy, with a deep, sultry voice that became her signature. I instantly liked her, and we were immediately attracted to each other. Things at home were in a bad place. Diandra and I were both having extramarital affairs, including my recent romance with Diane Thomas."
