This year, the theme for the event was 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty', and all the guests paid tribute to the late designer with their glam red carpet looks. For the unversed, Met Gala is a charity event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Well now, netizens have got hold of the dinner menu at the Met Gala event, and it created a stir on social media.

Recently, a photo of the dinner menu card from the Met Gala 2023 surfaced online, and it is being widely circulated on the internet. The food items listed on the menu included chilled spring pea soup with baby vegetables, lemon creme fraiche, and truffle snow. Apart from it, the guests were also served Ora King salmon which was accompanied with plenty of wine and diet coke. Sharing the details of the dinner menu, a Twitter user penned:
"Sweet raptor Jesus, this is the menu for #MetGala tonight. celebrities are starving themselves to death and paying out the nose for the privilege. What is this crime against food???"
For those who've been living under the rocks, the tickets for the Met Gala cost a whopping sum of Rs. 41 lakhs and only high-profile celebrities from the film and music fraternity graced it. And with such a high-priced ticket, one would expect a lavish spread of food. However, when the picture surfaced online, netizens were not impressed with the same. The culinary concept for the Met Gala 2023 was selected by caterer, Olivier Cheng, who took cues from Karl Lagerfeld’s style of hosting soirées. In an interview with Vogue, Cheng revealed that his team wanted to pay tribute to the late fashion icon by serving his favourite foods and global palate and added:
“This menu was designed to honour the late fashion icon and pay homage to his favourite foods and global palate. These dishes were created to maintain seasonality while using some of his favourite ingredients, such as King salmon. There is a sophisticated elegance to these pairings, one we feel that he would have truly enjoyed.”
