Lorre recently revealed that CBS executives were initially hesitant about hiring Melissa for the role of 'Molly'. One of the executives even suggested that they should hire someone thinner and use a fat suit to portray 'Molly', however, Lorre said that Melissa would be the perfect fit for the role, and she proved that no one could have done it better than her. Amid Lorre's revelation, let's look back at the time when Mellissa had to reply after Barbra Streisand questioned her about her weight loss.
Melissa McCarthy reacted to Barbra Streisand's comment on her weight loss, linking it to Ozempic
Melissa McCarthy lost around 75 to 90 pounds with lifestyle adjustments. However, when it comes to the entertainment space, some celebrities losing weight often gets linked to surgery or Ozempic. Mellisa was no exception; while speculation was already circulating about her using Ozempic to lose weight, she never really commented on it. However, it was Barbra Streisand's question that eventually had her reacting to the buzz surrounding her weight loss.

It so happened that Melissa posted a photo of herself with director Adam Shankman at the Centre Theatre Group’s CTG The Gala event in Los Angeles. Commenting on the same, Barbra Streisand asked Melissa to give her regards to the director, while asking her if she had been on Ozempic. The comment instantly grabbed significant attention, and people started calling it 'rude'.
Melissa, however, then shared a video featuring a copy of a magazine titled Barbra: Celebrating an Icon, which also had Streisand’s face on the cover. While people wondered if Melissa would open up about the Ozempic conversation, she said that the takeaway for her was that Barbra knew she existed and not only that, she even reached out to her and complimented her. Melissa could be quoted as saying:
"The takeaway, Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me, and she thought I looked good! I win the day.”
Following this incident, Barbra Streisand opened up about the hate she got for her comment on Melissa. She shared that she went on Instagram and found a photo of her friend, Melissa, looking stunning. Barbra shared that she wanted to compliment her, but she forgot the world was watching. In Barbra Streisand's words:
“OMG — I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday! Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world was reading!”
Melissa McCarthy shared the one thing she would never repeat to lose weight
Melissa McCarthy tried several measures to shed weight over the years. Her weight fluctuated in the initial years; however, the actress claimed that she eventually landed on a slower approach to lose weight and over the course of five years, she lost extra kilos.

Earlier, Mellisssa revealed that during the time she was working on Gilmore Girls, she followed a four-month, doctor-supervised liquid diet. After that, she lost 70 lbs. Even though it helped her lose weight, Melissa said she would never do it again, and the reason was that she claimed she felt like she was starving and felt 'crazy' half the time.
