Nick Bilton, the technology journalist who has served as a columnist for The New York Times and Vanity Fair, is now the executive producer of CBS’s 60 Minutes. However, currently Nick Bilton is dominating headlines for an alleged fight with Scott Pelley, who has been fired from CBS’s 60 Minutes. According to reports, Scott questioned Nick’s appointment as the new executive producer of 60 Minutes during a recent staff meeting. Amid this, people have grown curious about Nick’s personal life; well, we’ve got you covered.

Nick Bilton’s wife, Chrysta, shocked many when she revealed in her 2022 autobiography, Normal Family: On Truth, Love, and How I Met My 35 Siblings, that she has 35 siblings. In the autobiography, Chrysta mentioned that her mom, Debra, who was lesbian, wanted to become a mom. Thus, she convinced a stranger, Jeffrey, to have two kids, Chrysta and her sister, Kaitlyn. Although Jeffrey is the biological dad of Chrysta and her sister, Kaitlyn, he and Debra didn’t welcome them in a traditional way but rather in a non sexual way.
Jeffrey was not an active parent and visited Chrysta and Kaitlyn occasionally during their birthdays. In the late 2000s, Chrysta received the greatest shock of her life when her father’s absence was initially normal. She discovered that Jeffrey was a sperm donor in a California cryobank. Crysta was initially hesitant to reach out to her half- siblings. However, eventually she met them. In her memoir, Normal Family: On Truth, Love, and How I Met My 35 Siblings, Chrysta wrote:
"What is a 'normal family,' and how do you go about making one? Chrysta Bilton's magnetic, larger-than-life mother, Debra, yearned to have a child, but as a single gay woman in 1980s California, she had few options. Until one day, while getting her hair done in a Beverly Hills salon, she met a man and instantly knew he was the one she'd been looking for. Beautiful, athletic, artistic, and from a well-to-do family, Jeffrey Harrison appeared to be Debra's ideal sperm donor."

In a 2022 interview, Chrysta shared that earlier, a few of her friends knew about her family secrets partly. However, she met Nick everything felt different. Being a journalist, he was always very curious to know more. While Chrysta opened up about her family secrets to her husband, Nick, she felt the old wounds had healed. Chrysta and Nick have been married for over a decade now. They share two children. Chrysta added that she felt accepted rather than judged. She was quoted as saying:
"He's a journalist, so he asked a lot of questions, and there was no way to get around them. It was incredibly healing to tell someone my truth and be loved for that. I just started being more open, and people are so filled with compassion when you're honest with them. I think so many people can benefit from not being ashamed of the hard things they've gone through."

According to reports, Scott was fired after he criticised CBS editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss and questioned Nick Bilton’s qualifications amid his new appointment. On June 2, 2026, a note was allegedly distributed to the CBS staff. The Hollywood Reporter quoted the note as:
"You should hear this from me first. We have parted ways with Scott Pelley. I know how much Scott meant to many of you, and I don’t say this lightly. I made repeated attempts to have direct conversations with him over the weekend, and this afternoon I tried to find common ground. That was not the path Scott chose."
Firing Scott, Nick Bilton sent a letter to him. He wrote, "Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear. And I have heard you. I therefore write on behalf of CBS News to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated effective immediately."
