Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleJurgen Klopp is hogging the spotlight after he was appointed as head coach of Germany. According to the country's football association, DFB, Jurgen has signed a four-year contract and has been tasked with leading the national team into a new era after a rather disappointing World Cup campaign. As he continues to grab the headlines, many have become curious about Jurgen’s personal life. If you are one of them, let us introduce you to his wife, Ulla Sandrock.
Who is Jurgen Klopp’s wife, Ulla Sandrock?
Jurgen Klopp's wife, Ulla Sandrock, was born in 1974. She got her training as a teacher and social worker in Germany before going to Nairobi, Kenya, where she taught at a German school. He stayed there for three years and worked with children in need. This experience proved fundamental in her life and helped shape Ulla’s humanitarian instincts.
After returning to Germany, Ulla focused on children’s writing on top of her social work. Her debut book, titled Tom and the Magic Football, was published a decade ago, in 2008. The story follows an 11-year-old boy who comes across a magical football and takes its help to become an outstanding player.
The plot suggests that Ulla might have been inspired by her husband being one of the leading names in football. In 2010, she released a sequel set in Africa. With Ulla's second standalone book, Elli and Pitt, she highlighted her mentoring of children through storytelling.

It is worth mentioning that Ulla has barely any social media presence despite being the wife of Jurgen, who constantly remains in the public eye. Over the years, the German press has given her the nickname of First Lady of the Bundesliga, although Ulla herself has never acknowledged the same.
One moment that gave fans a rare glimpse into Ulla’s character came during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to reports, in April 2020, she walked into a Waitrose supermarket in Formby, which was near her and Jurgen’s family home at the time. Here, Ulla quietly distributed a number of food vouchers, reportedly worth about 1000 pounds, to frontline staff who were on duty that day.
Coming to the influence that Ulla Sandrock had over Jurgen's life, he had himself revealed that she played a significant part when he decided to renew his Liverpool contract. Later, after his famous farewell speech in the Anfield stands in May 2024, Jurgen revealed that his wife was someone without whom none of it would have been possible.
Jurgen Klopp is replacing Julian Nagelsmann as Germany's head coach
Julian Nagelsmann had left the role of head coach after Germany's penalty shootout defeat by Paraguay in round 32. This resulted in the country’s poor World Cup performances following group-stage exits in 2018 and 2022. After it was revealed that Jurgen Klopp was taking his place, he said in a statement:
“The national team can connect us Germans like hardly anything else. That’s exactly what makes this task so special for me. I am grateful for everything I have experienced and learned in the last year and a half at Red Bull and for the openness that has made this agreement possible in the first place.”

Jurgen went on to reveal that he is looking forward to his new role as head coach. He hopes to tackle the work with both humility and patience. He wrote:
“Now I am looking forward to this special task in German football, which we will tackle together with humility and patience: to develop a team that fights for each other, that enjoys football and behind which the people of our country can rally with full conviction.”
