Recently, a huge number of fans lined the streets of her hometown in South Wales to pay their respects to Bonnie for one last time as her coffin was brought back to her former home. The singer is survived by her husband, Robert Sullivan, and now fans have become curious to know more about him.

According to reports, Bonnie Tyler met her husband, Robert Sullivan, way before she rose to fame as a singer. During a January 2025 interview, she explained that she met Robert at the very start of her career, when she began singing in nightclubs in Swansea. At the time, Robert was a club manager.
In fact, Bonnie had even said that the reason they remained happily married for so many decades was because of their early meeting. She added, “I think the secret to our success is that we met before I was famous.”
It is worth noting that Robert Sullivan was a pretty successful man in his own right. During the early days of their relationship, he competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. As a judoka, Robert competed for Great Britain in the men’s half-middleweight category. Even though he did not win a medal at the Summer Games, he managed to secure a respectable 18th place in the competition.
Since then, Robert worked as a club manager and later pivoted to a career in property development. When she was alive, Bonnie Tyler opened up about her husband's property investments. She had explained:
“Before I had any hit records, my husband bought a tidy piece of land in Wales and we built our first house, a Georgian-style home, on it. I was 22 and it was lovely.”
According to Bonnie, Robert was “very good at investing in property.” Revealing how successful he was at what he does, she explained:
“In the 1970s, he and his business partner bought a lot of land in New Zealand. At first we had a cashmere goat farm; then it became a dairy farm. We sold it earlier this year. We also own 65 stables in Lambourn, Berkshire, which we rent to the Jockey Club. We used to own 22 houses in Berkshire, but we’ve sold 17 of them.”
Notably, Bonnie Tyler and Robert tied the knot in July 1973. They celebrated 50 years together in 2023. For the occasion, the Grammy-nominated singer posted a couple photo with the caption, “50 years,” followed by a ring and heart emoji. Despite their decades-long relationship, Bonnie and Robert had no children.
In a November 2012 interview, the singer addressed the same by saying that she and her husband decided to wait seven years after their marriage, but when the time came, Bonnie’s career was massive, and their plans to have children were put on hold once again. She felt that it was “the right time” at 39, but once she did get pregnant, the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. She was quoted as saying:
“I got pregnant very quickly, but after two and a half months, I miscarried, which was bloody awful at the time. We tried again, but after two years nothing had happened, so we just thought it wasn’t meant to be.”

A sea of fans stood along Newton Road in Mumbles, Swansea, to watch the procession as Bonnie Tyler’s coffin was brought back home. Photos showed the coffin draped in a Welsh flag and accompanied by a framed photograph of Bonnie. To show their respect, fans threw flowers onto the hearse, and after some time, the crowd erupted into applause and then began singing Total Eclipse of the Heart.
