A power-woman and a marvellous actress, Neena Gupta is undeniably and inspiration for a lot of youngsters out there. It was in the 1980s when the actress had met West Indian cricketer, Vivian Richards in Mumbai and had fallen in love with him. The love between the two was as passionate as it gets but somewhere deep inside, she knew that a wedding with him wasn't possible. However, when she had discovered that she was pregnant, the actress had taken the courageous decision of giving birth to that child as a single mother and had named her, Masaba Gupta. Although decades later, she had admitted in many interviews that if there's any wrong decision that she wanted to undo in her life, then it's her decision of having a child out of wedlock. Because now she understands the role of both the parents in a child's life. However, the bond between them is super-concrete because of the true love that Neena has in her heart for Masaba.
In an interview with Mid-Day, famous fashion designer, Masaba Gupta revealed that since the age of 14, she had a dream to follow the footsteps of her mother and Bollywood actress, Neena Gupta. She wanted to act in films like her, but it was her mother, who dissuaded her dream for some reasons back at that time. When asked to throw some light on those reasons, Masaba revealed, "I wanted to act since I was 14, but my mother dissuaded me for various reasons. She told me I would be stereotyped. Back then, I wanted to be an actor for the sake of vanity. I wanted to have people fussing over me in the make-up van."
However, Masaba is going to make her acting debut with her upcoming show, Masaba Masaba on Netflix. The young lady is going to team-up with her mother, Neena Gupta and the whole series is going to be based on the lives of this mother-daughter duo. Talking about the same, Masaba revealed, "Mom and I are playing fictionalised characters of ourselves in Masaba Masaba. The series is a slice of our lives and reliving key moments even though fictionalised, took me down memory lane. Sharing screen space with mom was quite an experience." Well, there's no doubt that Neena Gupta loves her daughter, Masaba whole-heartedly and in her recent interview with Pinkvilla, she had revealed the biggest reason why she had agreed to marry her husband, Vivek Mehra back in 2008. Neena Gupta had revealed, "If my husband didn't like Masaba or if he was the kind who would never get along with her, I'd never get married to him. No matter how much I love or lust a man, I wouldn't have ever decided to be in a relationship with anyone if they had a problem with my daughter. It's very important that she likes who I'm with and vice versa." (Also Read: Gauahar Khan Addresses Her Relationship Rumours With Zaid Darbar After Celebrating B'Day With Him)
