This is the first time 'Marty' chooses pride and self-respect over easy gains. For those aware, ahead of the final match, a wealthy power broker, 'Milton Rockwell', offered Marty money and a trip to Japan if he purposely loses the match to 'Endo'. Timothee shared that 'Marty' has a huge dream, and as he doesn’t have any supporters, he became his own supporter. Timothee highlighted that his character didn’t have 'no' in his dictionary. The actor was quoted as saying:

"He has a huge dream. And when you have a big dream in life, and you don't really have anyone supporting you when you're young, you're your best supporter. And that comes with all the positive qualities of self-belief and all the negative qualities that border on selfishness. 'No' is not in his vocabulary.
