'Stranger Things: Tales From '85' Ending Explained, Is The Queen Monster Dead Or Will It Return?

The much-awaited animated spinoff of Stranger Things is finally here! Stranger Things: Tales From '85 was released on Netflix on April 23, 2026. For those unaware, all ten episodes were dropped at once and fans can't stop talking about it on social media. The plotline of Stranger Things: Tales From '85

The story of Stranger Things: Tales From '85 starts after the events of Stranger Things Season 2. Hawkins seems to be calm and the kids, 'Eleven', 'Mike', 'Dustin', 'Lucas', 'Will' and 'Max' are enjoying the winter. While everyone is liking the safe place, they do not know that another danger is already planned.

As the show moves forward, strange things start happening in Hawkins. Those strange things include never-heard-before plants, dangerous creatures and supernatural things. Eventually, the group of friends sense the danger and realise that something is very wrong in Hawkins and they start investigating it.

After digging well, they find out that the danger is related to plants and creatures, which were in Upside Down. However, they seem to be more dangerous now. During this time, a new girl, 'Nikki' joins them. As the show moves ahead, the friends are able to discover that all the dangerous creatures in Hawkins are controlled by one powerful creature called Queen monster.

How was the Queen monster created?

Slowly and gradually, the friends learn that the Queen monster is trying to reopen the gates of Upside Down, so that she can spread her control all over Hawkins. This leads to intense investigation by the friends, who are determined to stop Queen monster and finish her. In the attempt to stop her, they discover a truth about the creatures.

These creatures were created by a scientist, who started experimenting on the remains of the creatures from Upside Down. During one such experiment, the scientist used a few chemicals, which accidentally gave the creatures a lot of strength and power, instead of destroying it. This creature went on to become the Queen Monster. Later, more creatures were made.

After knowing the truth, the first suspect was 'Nikki's' mother, 'Anna', who is also a scientist. However, the friends later find out that it was not 'Anna', but her partner, 'Daniel', who is the mastermind behind all the creatures. This leads to the final fight, which involves 'Eleven' with her powers, 'Nikki' with her intelligence and the rest of the group.

Towards the end of the show, the group of friends face ‘Daniel’ in the the Queen monster in a final showdown. After a long, difficult and deadly battle, the friends succeed in defeating the Queen monster and finally it looks like Hawkins is safe again. However, that is not the case. The show, Stranger Things: Tales From '85 ends with a final frame of Queen monster, who is dead; however, a new and strange plant starts to grow from it, suggesting that the danger has not yet ended.

Talking about the cast and crew of Stranger Things: Tales From '85, the animated spinoff was created by the Duffer Brothers. On the other hand, Odessa A'zion, Braxton Quinney, Benjamin Plessala, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Elisha Williams and Luca Diaz lended their voice to some of the important characters in the spinoff. It is worth noting that the recently released spinoff is receiving mixed reviews from audiences on X (formerly Twitter).
