Marta Kostyuk met George Kyzymenko when she was just 4
Marta Kostyuk and George Kyzymenko were destined to get married. The duo first met as kids in a Kyiv tennis club. She was just 4 at that time, and he was 9. They lost touch but reconnected in 2022 and, within a year, got married. In an interview with Vogue, Marta Kostyuk recalled how she reconnected with George Kyzymenko and revealed:
“We were practicing at the same tennis club in Kyiv when we were kids, but eventually he went to the US to study and I started playing professionally. We weren't really in contact, but when I went back to Ukraine in 2022 he called me for a date, and, yeah—that was it. Five months later, he proposed.”
Marta Kostyuk and George Kyzymenko like keeping their life away from the media glare. However, she once spoke about her dreamy proposal. Recalling the same, Marta revealed that one day, when they woke up together, George asked her to go watch the sunrise, which was strange to her, as he usually likes to sleep for a long time. Even though she was jetlagged, she agreed to George’s request.
They went to a place in Kyiv from which they could see the whole city, and while she was recording the sunrise, Marta was in for the surprise of her life when George proposed to her. Showing off the ring, Marta later posted a picture of herself with George and announced her engagement.

On November 1, 2023, Marta Kostyuk and George Kyzymenko tied the knot in Cyprus. For their wedding, Marta wore a unique tennis-inspired dress designed by her sponsor, Wilson, which later inspired her "Marta Dress" worn at Wimbledon. It was the most technical dress made by Joelle Michaeloff, VP of sportswear design. Talking about the most technical dress, Michaeloff told Vogue:
“I came up with 12 different options. I wanted it to be easy and really functional. The fabric is this gorgeous, highly technical Italian fabric with just a slight shimmer, to that it really hugged and fit her like something she could go and play a match in."
Later in 2024, Marta made headlines when she wore the Wilson tennis dress, inspired by her wedding gown. Her tennis dress eventually made it to retail at Wilson and can be purchased as either a two-piece set with the overlay or a one-piece that includes the dress only.
