If the reports are to be believed, Marcia passed away at her vacation home in Rancho Mirage, California and was surrounded by her loved ones.

Marcia was one of the well-known film editors, and she was the first wife of the famous filmmaker, George Lucas. Together, the couple shared a daughter, Amanda, whom they adopted. Amid this, let's have a look at her parenthood journey with George Lucas and the alleged real reason that she chose to adopt her daughter, Amanda.

Why did George Lucas and Marcia Lucas adopt their daughter, Amanda Lucas?

Marcia Lucas and George Lucas met back in 1967, when they attended film school at the University of Southern California while working as apprentice editors on Journey to the Pacific under Verna Fields. By February 1969, the couple was married. Reportedly, speaking to PEOPLE back in 1977, Marcia revealed that she was planning a family with George and wanted to have a baby, which she described as a project of that particular year. She, reportedly, said:

As per a blog on Nonenic.Com, while they were trying to get pregnant, they were hit with some bad news, which was that they would not be able to welcome a child together, given that George was sterile. According to Pollock's notes, this was a hard pill to swallow for both of them, and the only option they were left with to have a child together was through adoption. However, reportedly, George, despite claiming that he was ready to retire, was involved in his most ambitious project.

Marcia reportedly spoke about her domestic life, soon after welcoming her daughter. She allegedly revealed that by 6 o'clock every day, she would send everyone home, so there could be only she, her then-husband and their daughter. Marcia revealed that she would cook and clean dishes, while they would take care of their daughter together with George, who would often feed Amanda. Sharing that they had traditional values, Marcia said:

"I make everyone leave at six o'clock so that when George comes home, it's just the two of us and Amanda. Now that we have Amanda we actually have dinner at the table. I cook, I do the dishes, and we give Amanda a bath together. George sometimes feeds her a bottle in the TV room. We just decided to try to keep our lives as normal as possible. We both have very traditional values. When you get a big jolt of money, it's very easy to be in awe of it and lose touch with reality. I don't want to raise children in a fantasy."
