Why was Marcellus Wiley sued by the bank?
Marcellus Wiley’s legal trouble with the bank dates back to December 2025. A lawsuit was filed against the NFL star by the Preferred Bank after he did not pay a loan worth half a million dollars on time. The loan was allegedly granted to Marcellus and his company, Dat Dude Entertainment, in 2023, and he was supposed to return the entire amount within a year.
However, the money was not paid by the time it was due, along with the interest included with the amount. The delay continued, although, the bank extended the payback time to December 2025. As of this writing, it remains unknown why Marcellus took such a big amount, and he has yet to confirm if the reports of the lawsuit are true.
Marcellus Wiley denied the allegations made against him by his wife, Annemarie
As mentioned, Marcellus Wiley’s wife, Annemarie, made some serious allegations against him in the restraining order. Notably, Annemarie was seeking a divorce due to irreconcilable differences. However, the legal documents did not reveal the date of separation.
On the other hand, the documents featured a list of allegations. It included incidents that happened more than ten years ago, and the latest one happened in July 2026 during a family trip to Orlando, where Marcellus allegedly pushed one of his sons. Addressing the allegations in a lengthy statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), on July 8, 2026, Marcellus wrote:
“I love my children with everything I am. My highest priority has always been protecting them and preserving the relationship they have with both of their parents. Because of the public allegations made against me by Annemarie, I have been forced to respond with evidence rather than emotion. More importantly, I owe it to my children to truthfully document what they and I have endured.”
Marcellus said that his wife has been lying about the allegations, adding that he has evidence in the form of videos, pictures, messages, and emails that “directly contradicts” the claims made by Annemarie. Marcellus wrote that his records have all the truth related to his family and the situations that have led to his divorce from Annemarie.
Marcellus alleged that Annemarie had an affair with the husband of one of her friends, who is expecting a child. Apart from this, Wiley even accused Annemarie of using a voodoo spell over his family and the fans who hated her when she appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. According to Marcellus, a lot of people have claimed that Annemarie lost her mind after being removed from the show. Marcellus continued:
“I never wanted my family’s issues and struggles to become public for any reason, including divorce leverage. But I unfortunately knew this day was inevitable. I was willing to endure anything - even hell itself - if it meant being with my children every single day. I am their hero, and now I am fighting to make sure the positive and real image they know of me is the one that endures.”
