Mahesh Babu's Remark 'Bollywood Cannot Afford Me' Ignites Huge Controversy, Angry Netizens Troll Him

South Indian actor, Mahesh Babu is one of the biggest names in the Indian film industry. Whether we talk about the craze that he holds across the country or his super-humble nature, Mahesh is indeed everyone's favourite. Over the years, time and again, we have seen speculations of him entering the Hindi film industry. However, even to this very, people are still waiting and dreaming of seeing their favourite Telugu star in a Bollywood film. Well, now, in a recent interaction with the media, Mahesh shared his thoughts about joining Bollywood and is receiving heavy backlash for his words.

For the uninitiated, Namrata Shirodkar and Mahesh Babu had tied the marital knot on February 10, 2005. The much-in-love couple had welcomed their first child, a baby boy, Gautham, in the year 2006. After some years, it was in 2012, when the couple had embraced parenthood for the second time when they had welcomed an adorable daughter in their lives, whom they had lovingly named, Sitara.

South Indian superstar, Mahesh Babu is working tirelessly to promote his upcoming film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, directed by renowned filmmaker, Parasuram Pela. However, in the middle of this, he had attended the trailer launch of the film, Major in which he is working as one of the producers. According to India Today, during his interaction with the media at the trailer launch, when Mahesh was asked about the possibilities of him working in Bollywood, the Telugu actor gave an answer that has provided the much-needed fuel to the timeless fiery debate, South cinema vs Bollywood. Mahesh Babu stated that Bollywood cannot afford him and added that he doesn't want to waste his time working in the Hindi film industry. In his words:

"I did get a lot of offers in Hindi, but I don't think they can afford me. I don't want to waste my time working in an industry which can't afford me. The stardom and the respect I get here [in South] is huge, so I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to some other industry. I have always thought of doing films and becoming bigger. My dream is coming true now and I can't be happier."

Mahesh Babu's response to the possibility of him working in Bollywood has created a whole new fight on the internet between the die-hard fans of the Hindi film industry and South Indian cinema. While on the one side, some people are calling Mahesh Babu's statement a befitting reply to the Hindi cinema and hailed the actor for choosing South over Bollywood. However, on the other side, many people called Mahesh Babu an arrogant person and trolled him for his demeaning statement about Bollywood. The angry netizens didn't stop there, as they also made fun of Mahesh Babu's facial expressions and passed some extremely derogatory comments on the actor.

There's no denying the fact that Mahesh Babu is one of the biggest actors in the history of Indian cinema. His acting journey had kickstarted back in 1979 with the film, Needa. At the mere age of four, the actor had stunned everyone with his acting skills as a child artist in his debut film. Mahesh Babu had worked in eight movies as a child artist, before making his debut as a lead actor in the film, Rajakumarudu back in 1999. For his surreal performance in his debut film, Mahesh Babu had won the Nandi Award for Best Male Debut, and since then, there was no looking back for this actor, who had gone on to become one of the biggest actors of this generation.

On the professional front, Mahesh Babu will be next seen in the film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which will hit theatres on May 12, 2022.
