'Going To Wreck The Car..' Mackenzie Shirilla Gave Threats To BF Days Before Murdering Him In Crash

Mackenzie Shirilla has been in the headlines after Netflix released the crime documentary The Crash on May 15, 2026. She is currently serving 15 years of jail term for crashing the car in a brick wall, which led to the death of her boyfriend, Dominic and their friend, Davion. 

The three were returning from the graduation party when the crash occoured. After investigations, detectives found out that the crash that was looking like a tragic accident was actually well-calcuated crime. While Mackenzie's family continue to call her innocent, Dominic's's mother revealed hearing strange threats from then 17-year-old guilty.

Dominic's mother claimed that they would often fight and hurl threats at each other

As per the Ohio Sureme Court document, it is believed that Mackenzie and Dominic have been in a long-standing relationship. But thier relationship suffered ain the six months before the horrifying crash. The couple dated for four years, but started fighting and having disagreements. The two often would break up only to get back as per mom claimed in the docs. 

There had been some tensed moments between the two, where they hurled threats each other. The mother also revealed the two having a fight including July 2022 fight where Mackenzie threatened to break into Dominic's home if he broke up with her. Dominic's mother also revealed about another fight that happened just days before the car crash. 

The mother claimed that Dominic called her and seemed upset, so she sent a family friend, Christopher Martin, to get him out of the situation, which could have been a bad one. While Martin was driving to get Dominic, he heard the two arguing. He revealed that he had heard Mackenzie threatening Dominic that she would wreck this car right now. After which, Dominic got out of the car, and Mackenzie started swinging her hands at him. 

Dominic's mother's lawyer claimed Mackenzie intentionally crashed the car 

Mackenzie and her parents kept affirming that she passed out due to medical emergency and doesn't remember anything about the accident. On the other hand, the prosecuting lawyers aruged that she intentionally crashed the car to end her relationship with Dominic. During the trial several ugly fights were revealed which happened between the couple.

It is believed that Dominic wanted to end their relationship. His elder brother, Angelo Russon, also claimed that the couple had broken up many times over the years. But in June and July of 2022, Dominic finally wanted to end the relationship. Laywers highlighted that the couple's past fight and Mackenzie threatening and trying to break into Dominic's house is a motive enough to kill him. The lawyers said:

"Mackenzie's past threats and aggression towards [Dominic] provide an important perspective of how [Mackenzie] responds in situations where she is displeased or in disagreement with others. Further, the evidence shows that [Mackenzie] was aware of her ability to cause harm to the victims, especially by means of her own vehicle, and how she could use the power of threats and control to ultimately reach the outcome she desired."

Currently, Mackenzie is serving her jail term for double murder charges while her family is still trying to prove her innocence in the matter and claiming that it was just an accident and not a calculated murder.
