Did Rekha And Raj Babbar Have An Affair? Arya Babbar Claims, 'Khubsurat Lady Kaun Attract Nahi Hua?'

Raj Babbar has often been in the spotlight, especially when it comes to his personal life. Not only did he have two marriages, but there have always been numerous rumours about his affairs. This chatter has had a significant impact on the lives of his children, Juhi and Arya. Now, in a recent interview, Arya Babbar opened up about his father's alleged affair rumours with renowned actress, Rekha. 

Arya Babbar reacts to Raj Babbar's affair rumours with Rekha

Recently, Arya Babbar sat down for an interview with journalist, Vickey Lalwani. Here, he was asked about speculations claiming that his father, Raj Babbar, was attracted to Rekha. Vickey brought up old rumours about how Raj Babbar was once spotted “running” together on a road. He humorously added that no one knew whether it was a morning run, an afternoon run, or an evening run. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, Arya chose to reply with humour, successfully turning the conversation into a lighter moment. He said:

“Aapka sawaal jo hai woh bata raha hai ki ek jog hui thi between Rekha ji and papa. Humein proof kya karta hai? Ki dono fit the.”

However, Vickey Lalwani did not back down so easily. When the journalist pressed Arya further, he openly praised Rekha, admitting that his father’s admiration for the actress would not be surprising at all. In his words:

“Itni khoobsurat lady, kaun attract nahi hua? So if he felt attracted, it's human. What's wrong with that?” 

Following this, the actor opened up about his thoughts on celebrity gossip culture. According to Arya, people often end up creating stories in every small incident and on assumptions. He concluded with a piece of advice, saying, “Jeevan mast hai. Aage chalo. Stress lo nahi, stress do.” For those unaware, Raj Babbar and Rekha were one of the most popular on-screen couples back in the 1980s. They had acted together in a number of hit films like Agar Tum Na Hote, Sansar, and Insaaf Ki Awaaz. It was their striking chemistry and romantic portrayals in the films that fuelled rumours of Raj and Rekha being in an off-screen relationship during that era.

In the same interview, Arya Babbar also noted that while his father, Raj Babbar's film career and achievements, conversations about his affairs simply refuse to die down. Recalling the time, he said that it happened when he was just 4 or 5 years old. Arya said:

"Today, I am 44 years old. This happened when I was four or five. My father accomplished a lot in life after that, and so did our family. But somehow the biggest thing that remained attached to our lives was that my father had an affair, fell in love, and gave dignity to that relationship. That became the defining issue of our lives. Aisa nahi hona chahiye. We have all moved on from it, and because we have moved on, everyone else should move on too.”

According to Arya, there is no child who would enjoy hearing about their father having an affair. However, he has made peace with it over time. He jokingly added that his father has moved on, too, by having “another affair.” Arya said that one should not carry so much baggage about everything in life.

For those unaware, Raj Babbar tied the knot with Nadira in 1975. Together they welcomed two kids, son, Arya and daughter, Juhi. According to reports, in 1983, Raj got married to Smita Patil while still being married to Nadira. Reportedly, Nadira died at the age of 31 due to complications post-childbirth. On November 28, 1986, she gave birth to her and Raj's son, Prateik Babbar, and passed away just weeks later on December 13, 1986.
