Shamar Elkins Cried To Parents As His Wife Asked For Divorce, Wanted To Take His Own Life, 'Dark..'

The tragic shooting incident in Louisiana has left everyone shocked to the core. It so happened that Shamar Elkins, a 31-year-old, opened fire in different locations and ended up killing 8 kids, with two women being fatally injured and another kid being wounded.

The authorities have revealed that the tragic incident might have stemmed from any domestic disturbance that Shamar was facing. Shamar was shot down by the police after he committed the crime. Now, it was revealed that among the 8 kids he killed, 7 were his own. The kids' ages ranged from 1 to 14 years, and Shamar Elkins killed them in execution style, according to a spokesman for the Shreveport Police Department. Recently, Shamar's parents gave an interview and revealed that he was not doing well mentally, and turned suicidal, caused by marital life issues with his wife.

As per The New York Times, Shamar Elkins's mother and his stepdad recently shared some insight into their son's mental health. It was on Easter Sunday when Shamar called his parents and sounded despondent, as revealed by his parents. Shamar's parents said that they could hear their kids playing in the background. His stepdad, Mr Jackson, in the interview revealed that Shamar broke down in tears while telling them he would take his own life.

Shamar told his parents that his wife wanted a divorce from him, which led him to drown in dark thoughts. His stepdad told him that he could beat anything, no matter what life throws at him. Shamar replied that some people cannot come back from their demons. His stepdad said:

"I told him, ‘You can beat stuff, man. I don’t care what you’re going through, you can beat it.’ Then I remember him telling me: ‘Some people don’t come back from their demons.’"

As per Shamar Elkins's mother, it was not known what issues he was facing with his wife, Shaneiqua Elkins. For the unversed, Shamar was in the Louisiana Army National Guard from August 2013 to August 2020 as a signal support system specialist and a fire support specialist, and he didn't have any deployments but left the army in private. Shamar was married to Shaneiqua. The couple had been together for a few years; however, it was on her birthday back in 2024, when they got married.

Several speculations are that Shamar might have been caught cheating on his wife, while she is currently hospitalised.
