Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai fame actress, Sara Khan has always been in the limelight due to her professional and personal life. The actress is currently a contestant in Kangana Ranaut's celebrity reality show, Lock Upp. Once again, her personal life is the talk of the town after her ex-husband, Ali Mercchant has entered into the show. Now, once again, the sad history of their past is making it to the headlines all over again.
For the unversed, Sara Khan was earlier married to Ali Mercchant, and their wedding had taken place in 2010 on national television inside the controversial reality show, Bigg Boss 4. However, sadly, things soon fell apart, and they had eventually decided to part ways. Ali and Sara had got divorced in 2011, since then, they have been on their respective adventures in life.

In a conversation with ETimes before entering the controversial celebrity reality show, Lock Upp, Ali Mercchant shared his take on one of the show's popular contestants, Shivam Sharma, who is a model-actor by profession. When Ali was asked to reveal his take on Shivam flirting with his ex-wife, Sara Khan in the show, he gave a quirky answer. The actor clearly stated that he is entering into the show with the prospect of getting entertained and with no intentions of getting possessive with Shivam's flirtatious antics towards his ex-wife, Sara Khan. However, Ali also gave 'green light' to Shivam as he admitted that he has no problem with Shivam flirting with Sara as he no longer holds any feelings for his ex-wife. Calling Shivam's flirting 'cute', Ali said:
"I find Shivam Sharma very entertaining. His gestures are really cute and I would want him to continue doing it. I am going there to just get entertained. I don't think I am going to get possessive even one percent. For me, today Sara is just one of the contestants and I am going to see her like that. Respect and soft corner will be there but nothing more than that."
In one of the promo videos of the show, Lock Upp, we had got a glimpse of Sara Khan and Ali Mercchant having a conversation. The latter had said that it had been 12 years since their separation and that he has a lot of respect for Sara as she was his ex-wife. She had even shared that she knew Ali was going to be one of the contestants in the show. Later, Ali could be heard concluding the conversation:
"Aisa matt socho ki main tuhari wajah se yahan aaya hun. Mujhe farak nahi padta."

In an interview with The Times Of India, Sara Khan had opened up about her marriage with her ex-husband, Ali Mercchant and her love life. Talking about her decision of marrying Ali on national television and regretting it. Sara had further shared that she wants to get married even when she has not been lucky in matters of the heart. Sara had said:
"My decisions have made me what I am today. While there are no regrets, the Bigg Boss controversy is something that I can't erase. I want to get married and have a family. Love is beautiful, though I have been unfortunate. All you need is a compatible partner and somebody who loves you for who you are. It's all about understanding each other and being by each other's side. This is what is lacking in today's relationships."
