Late television actress, Pratyusha Banerjee was best known for her character 'Anandi' in the popular television serial, Balika Vadhu. However, her drastic step of taking her life had shocked the entire nation along with her friends, family and close ones. For the unversed, Pratyusha was in a relationship with actor, Rahul Raj Singh at that time. And post her death, Rahul had to go through a tough phase in his life. Finally, he is ready to return on-screen with his new album, Beparwah 2. In an interview, he also opened up about his ex-girlfriend's untimely demise and added new angles to what would have happened that day.
In an interview with Aaj Tak, Rahul Raj Singh opened up about how his ex-girlfriend, Pratyusha Banerjee's death, severely impacted him. He mentioned that he was so much wrecked by the incident that sleeping pills were also useless. Thus, he was given sleep injections. However, he added people blamed him for Pratyusha's death and how he was blamed for it. Rahul said:
“I was unconscious for two to three days when the accident happened. When sleeping pills did not work, efforts were made to make me sleep by giving injections. People are telling me I am responsible for her death. How can I be responsible for someone’s death?"

Further, in the same interview, Rahil claimed that his ex-girlfriend, Pratyusha was worried about her parent's debt, hinting it to be a reason to take such a drastic step in her life. However, Rahul also quipped that the late actress had a habit of frightening him by enacting "suicide", and she used to do it often. Thus, Rahul claimed that on the dreadful night of April 1, 2016, Pratyusha's foot must have slipped while making such hanging videos, which led to such an incident. Rahul added:
"I had a party with her just the night before. I didn’t provoke her, but she was worried about her parents’ debt. I do not consider it suicide. Pratyusha was making hanging videos to scare me. She often used to do this; only then must her foot have slipped.”
Talking about the incident, Pratyusha Banerjee was found hanging from a fan at her Goregaon, Mumbai house on April 1, 2016. The news of her tragic death not only shocked her family and friends, but also the whole television industry was devastated. Following this, rumours were rife that the late actress was under much pressure because of her then-boyfriend, Rahul. Moreover, reports of her pregnancy were also doing the rounds in the media. And Rahul also had to face many blame games from the actress' family and friends, along with going through a media trial and police investigation.. However, Pratyusha's ardent followers and loved ones are still struggling to accept her untimely demise. And the reason behind Pratyusha's drastic step is yet to get closure.

Fast forward to Rahul Raj Singh's personal life, he got married to Saloni Sharma in 2018. Afterwards, on January 26, 2023, Rahul and his wife, Saloni were blessed with a baby girl. He had shared his excitement and happiness in an interaction with The Times Of India. Rahul and Saloni named their daughter, Shivanya, as they are ardent devotees of Lord Shiva. Rahul had also shared that he is ready to become his child's best friend and was looking forward to his new journey.
