If the surname rings a bell, you're right. Hudson Riley Hawk is the son of the legendary ice skater, Tony Hawk, and his first wife, Cindy Dunbar, born in December 1992 in Carlsbad, California. Growing up in sports royalty, Riley has also followed his father's footsteps in professional skateboarding, mainly known for street skating. He was only 3 when he began skating, coached by Tony Hawk, and by age 8, he was already performing kickflips and boardslides. 

In 2013, Riley made his debut in professional skating when he was 21 years old. He has since been featured in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game series, including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. Besides skating, Riley has also pursued a music career and even ventured into business with his own coffee shop in California.

How did Frances and Riley meet? Inside their love story

Despite their famous last names, Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk have largely kept their relationship out of the headlines. From what is known about their relationship, the couple reportedly began dating around 2021, and it was in 2022 when they went public, sharing occasional glimpses of their bond on social media. While not much is known about how they met, it was after Frances' messy divorce from her ex-husband, guitarist Isaiah Silva.

Frances and Riley tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on October 7, 2023, in the presence of their close family and friends. The wedding took place in Los Angeles, and it was officiated by Frances' godfather and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, according to a marriage certificate obtained by TMZ.

Growing a family together

Frances and Riley welcomed their first child, a son, Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk, in September 2024. The couple shares glimpses of their life with baby Ronin, often hanging out with his grandpa, Tony Hawk. In an interview with PEOPLE, Riley Hawk spoke about how his father helps with Ronin's upbringing. He said:

"My dad helps a lot and it's really cool that we get to all hang out together. It's just a cool thing for him to get to hang out with his grandson a lot. That's kind of where we're at, just taking it day by day."

Having grown up under intense media attention following the death of Kurt Cobain, Frances has been open about wanting a different kind of upbringing for her own child. Regarding what the couple hopes about their little one, Riley told PEOPLE:

"All I can hope to do for my son, is just give him the opportunity if something interests them or they fall in love with a certain sport or hobby."
