As per reports, Brand’s trial began on October 12, 2026, at Southwark Crown Court in London. Amid this, reports surfaced suggesting that Katy is planning to reveal her side of the story about their brief marriage through a Netflix series and an autobiography.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand got married in 2010, but it was a short-lived marriage. According to reports, Katy and Brand’s marriage lasted only 14 months. They parted ways in 2011. Since their divorce, Katy has rarely spoken publicly about what really went wrong in their marriage. However, according to the Daily Mail report, Katy is now considering writing a book and making a docuseries to share her side of the story.
A source revealed that over the years, Katy has received multiple offers to share her side of the story. The insider shared that, for Katy, her marriage to Brand was a very 'dark period'. The source claimed that Katy’s team has been in touch with streaming giants including Netflix and Hulu. The insider also claimed that Katy was waiting for the outcome of Brand's trial before finalizing a deal but has been in active discussions with the streaming giants. The source told the Daily Mail:
"Katy has received multiple offers over the years to tell her story but would not consider anything until after the trial. She has a lot to say. At the moment she's considering a Netflix-type series and an autobiography. There is a lot about that marriage which people don't know."
Inside Katy Perry and Russell Brand's relationship
Perry and Brand first crossed paths in September 2008, when the former was asked to shoot a brief cameo for the film Get Him to the Greek in which the latter played a titular role. In August 2009, the duo was spotted making out at an MTV VMAs after-party. After months of romance buzz, in November 2009, Katy confirmed her relationship with Brand at the MTV European Music Awards. Next month, in December 2009, the English comedian confessed that he was in love with someone.
In January 2010, US Weekly confirmed that Brand and Katy were engaged. Back then, a source told US Weekly that the proposal took place in Jaipur, India. The ex-couple tied the knot in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India. In December 2010, Brand said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he was happily married. In November 2011, Perry shut down the rumors that her marriage to Brand was on the rocks. The next month, in December 2011, Russell confirmed his split from Katy.
Later, in a 2013 interview with Vogue, Katy revealed that her ex-husband, Brand, initially wanted an equally strong partner but struggled when she became successful and took charge of her professional life. She called his behavior controlling and admitted that it hurt her. In April 2026, Brand appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show and got candid about his broken marriage to Katy Perry.
The English comedian admitted that he pushed to get married early because he felt insecure and thought only marriage would make him more important. This act put Katy under unnecessary pressure and strain. He said:
"Put her under an unnecessary amount of pressure and strain. She has innocence; she's a very beautiful person. She's also incredibly driven and worked really, really hard. Here's me taking total responsibility for all the mistakes I made in that marriage."
