After a traumatic experience, it was tough for Katie Piper to trust in love again, but she never lost hope. It was in 2013 that Katie Piper met her husband, Richard Sutton. The duo met after being set up for a blind date. According to the Daily Mail, Katie Piper mentioned that Richard is someone who's 'chatty and witty'. On their first date, Richard looked 'squarely into her eyes'.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Katie Piper mentioned that when she first started dating Richard, she eventually understood that he was totally different than other people she dated. During that time, Piper was still going through the treatments which were caused by her horrific burns. However, Richard showed what kind of person he was by accompanying her to the hospital. She revealed to the Daily Mail:
"He came to hospital and he'd watch Netflix with me. It's quite boring for it to be like that in the glamorous dating stages, but it showed it me it was a good test. It showed me the person he really was and that he had depth."
During that time, Katie had already undergone several surgeries; however, Richard never asked her about her burns, and because he didn't, she didn't talk about them either. Richard Sutton is a carpenter and builder, and according to Hello!, he proposed marriage to her just a year after they started dating. After a year of engagement, the couple tied the knot. They have been married for over a decade now and are parents to two daughters, Belle and Penelope.

When Katie thought that the person was going to ask for money, Stefan threw a cup of acid on her face. Her face suffered severe burns, and it took her a lot of time to recover.
