Kate Gosselin Responds To Son, Collin's Challenge To Take Lie Detector Test, 'Malice Is Hardest..'

It seems like all hell is about to break loose as Collin Gosselin is preparing to release his memoir, Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in the latter half of 2026. According to reports, in the memoir, he will talk about his time growing up on Jon & Kate Plus 8.

Collin has already started giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the book before its release, as he made some shocking claims about the alleged abuse that his mom, Kate Gosselin, used to put him through. He openly challenged her to take a lie detector test, and now Kate has seemingly responded to it.

In a recent TikTok video, Kate Gosselin responded to several comments about her son, Collin Gosselin. She had actually shared the video to discuss updates about her rescue dog, Koda. She asked her followers if they too had experienced the kind of minor foot injury that she had.

Well, instead of replying to her question, people were more curious about the allegations levied by her son, Collin and whether she would indeed take a lie detector test ahead of the release of his memoir, as he had challenged. 

Replying to a follower in the video's comments section who had asked her the same thing, Kate responded with “Ha!” Although her response seemed brief and she did not explicitly say what she would do, it gave the impression that she found the matter completely outrageous. Naturally, fans believe she would not take the lie detector test, no matter how much Collin egged her on. 

Notably, in another comment, Kate wrote that “malice is one of the hardest things to prove” and that she had previously consulted a renowned attorney in Los Angeles when people were publicly alleging against her. She said, “The rules are different for people in the public eye.” 

It is worth mentioning that Collin did not just want only his mom, Kate, to be hooked to the lie detector. He said that he was also ready to be connected to the equipment while they both answered questions about his childhood. For those who do not know, Collin has said this during his appearance on the Strange McKnights YouTube channel.

While discussing his memoir and family life, Collin claimed that Kate would use zip ties on his wrists and ankles and lock him in a basement and that he planned to go into more details in his upcoming book. Collin was quoted as saying:

"My mother had a room built in our unfinished section of the storage basement. She had a room put up with cameras in it, a tiny window in the corner, and it was bolt-locked from the outside. It was like a containment room, literally, and it had a mattress on the floor, and that's how I lived."

Collin further alleged that Kate has always been physically aggressive towards him and had extended it to verbal abuse. Kate’s attorney, Richard Puleo, claimed that she had not done anything to “intentionally harm” Collin. He defended her and said that all of her actions were a result of her trying to protect herself and her family from her son’s “troubled behaviour.” 

Collin Gosselin made fresh allegations against Kate Gosselin after she seemingly denied taking the lie detector test 

A while ago, on June 30, 2026, Collin reacted to his mother's TikTok, which she had posted a day before. Posting a message on his Instagram Stories, he levied fresh allegations against Kate. Alleging that she used to hit I'm when he was just a 2-year-old baby, Collin shared:

"Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she 'had to pray to God to stop hitting me' (this was while I was 2 years old by the way). And this is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important."
