Collin Gosselin Reveals Mom, Kate Gosselin Used To Hit Him When He Was 2, Had To Pray To God To Stop

Collin Gosselin has found himself in the spotlight as he prepares to release his memoir called Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, later this year. Here he will talk about growing up on Jon & Kate Plus 8. Amid this, it seems like the tensions between Collin Gosselin and his mother, Kate Gosselin, are running high, as he revealed that she used to hit him when he was a small child. 

Collin Gosselin claims that his mom, Kate, used to hit him when he was 2 years old 

On June 30, 2026, Collin reacted to a TikTok that his mother, Kate Gosselin, had originally posted the day before. In the TikTok video, she had responded to some fans’ comments about Collin’s upcoming memoir. Replying to a person who suggested that she should take her son “to court and sue him for defamation” if she is “100% certain that the accusations against you are lies,” she said:

"The rules are different for ppl in the public eye. I consulted a high-power LA attorney (you've definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there, and that's what he said. The courts don't honour it if you're in the public eye."

Collin clearly did not like what Kate said. This is because he later took to his Instagram Stories and blasted his mom's comments. He claimed that he used to be hit by his mother when he was only 2 years old. He added: 

"Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she 'had to pray to God to stop hitting me' (this was while I was 2 years old by the way). And this is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important."

It is worth noting that Collin had previously made allegations against Kate about how she used to confine and isolate him from his seven siblings. He believes that he was “a scapegoat” for his mother’s problems and often took “the brute end of things.” Collin was quoted as saying: 

"My mother had a room built in our unfinished section of the storage basement. She had a room put up with cameras in it, a tiny window in the corner, and it was bolt-locked from the outside. It was like a containment room, literally, and it had a mattress on the floor, and that's how I lived."

According to Collin, his mother used to put him in that room multiple times. And every time Kate would zip-tie his hands and feet together and bolt lock the door. She would also turn off the lights and have the cameras on to watch him. He also alleged that his mom was “physically aggressive” towards him, and verbally she was even more abusive. 

At the time, Kate’s attorney, Richard Puleo, revealed that he did not believe Kate had done anything to “intentionally harm” Collin. Defending her actions, he said she did so only to protect herself and her family from “troubled behaviour.” 

What led things to turn sour between Collin Gosselin and Kate Gosselin?

According to reports, it all began in 2016, when Kate enrolled Collin, who was only 12 years old at the time, in a behavioural facility. According to Kate, she was forced to decide as her son was facing serious behaviour issues, which she thought needed professional treatment. However, Collin had always disputed the explanation. Based on Collin’s account, he was sent away by his mom after he spoke out to his teachers about the alleged abuse he was facing at home.
