Collin Gosselin's Mom, Kate Calls Him 'Mentally Ill' As He Makes Abuse Claims, 'Only Parents Who...'

Collin Gosselin has been making headlines for his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. In his memoir, Collin made bombshell claims about his mom, Kate Collins and accused her of abusing him when he was just 2. He also openly challenged his mother to undergo a lie detector test.

Kate Gosselin calls Collin Gosselin ‘mentally ill’

Recently, in a TikTok video, Kate shared an update on her rescue dog, Koda and in the comment section of the thread, one of her followers touched upon the ongoing feud between Kate and Collin. The follower stated that she believed in the reality TV star, as she empathises with her for being “constantly disparaged and lied about” by an “adult child with a skewed version of their childhood.” To the comment, Kate replied:

“Thank you! YOU understand. Sadly, only parents who have a mentally ill child understand! It’s so tough learning that people have NO ability to understand unless they’ve been through it themselves.”

What was the accusation levied by Collin on his mother Kate?

Collin has been open about his difficult childhood and has also stated how he was abused by his mom, Kate when he was young. He claimed that his mother would get physically aggressive and often abused him verbally too. Collin also revealed that Kate would zip-tie him and lock him inside a basement for several days at a time. 

Recently Collin took to his IG stories and called out his mom, Kate ahead of the release of his memoir. In the stories he claimed that his mom used to pray to God to stop hitting him. He also mentioned that he was just two-year-old at that time. As soon as Collin made the scathing charges on his mom recently, Kate started receiving a lot of hate.

Kate Gosselin slammed the online hate after her son's series of allegations. Kate talked about he same in TikTok post. She shared a video of a recent event which happened in her life, but several users took to her comments section to take lie detector test and to prove her son wrong. One user penned, "If you are 100% certain that the accusations against you are lies, my suggestion would be to take him to court and sue him for defamation!" 

However, Kate replied to the social media user and stated that she cannot sue her own son as rules are different as she is a public figure. But if she could she would have. She shared that years ago she had talked about the law to a top attorney from LA, and he revealed that courts don't honour this when you are a public figure. 

Collin Gosselin’s accusations on Kate Gosselin is backed by his father, Jon Gosselin

After Jon and Kate parted ways and divorced in 2009, Kate was given custody of their children. Things took an ugly turn when Kate sent Collin to a behavioural health institution in 2016 when he was 12, following what she described as "unpredictable and violent behaviour." Kate once talked about her strained relationship and stated that her son had multiple psychiatric diagnosis over the time, and he was place in the facility for her safety and his own well-being. However, Kate’s ex husband and Collin’s father, Jon stated that Kate institutionalised their son without any mental health diagnosis and created a diagnosis later.
