In August 2026, Kate removed all her Instagram posts amid the criticism surrounding her weight loss. Many referred to her earlier photos, noting that she had a fuller, rounder facial structure and visible smile lines and other fine lines. They claimed that the actress was curvy and naturally beautiful at that time.
Comparing Kate's earlier photos with her current pictures, netizens argued that she was literally skin and bones now, with prominent collarbones and sharper features. The Serendipity star herself shared screenshots of the negative comments about her body. One of them read, "Loosen up the Ozampic !! You were divine and now you look anorexic!" Another online user wrote, "Gain weight you f--- it." A third assumed that Kate Beckinsale has an eating disorder and stated, "You must eat please."

Kate Beckinsale addressed the criticism about her becoming thinner over the years, saying she was fed up with the online scrutiny. The 53-year-old Underworld actress shared that every time she posted a photo of herself, her DMs and comments would be filled with negative comments, calling her "disgusting" and "anorexic" and claiming that she was on weight-loss-inducing drugs like Methamphetamine and Ozempic. In her words:
"Anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I'm anorexic or I'm on meth or that I've lost so much weight. First off, I've lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time."
Kate clarified that her weight loss stemmed from losses in her personal life. She stated that she was deeply affected by her mother's death on July 15, 2025, which took a toll on both her physical and mental health. Notably, the actress also lost her stepfather shortly after losing her mom, which added to her bereavement. Kate explained that her removal of all posts and her break from social media was the result of her being unable to cope with the deaths in her family. Calling her trollers "broken" individuals, she stated:
"You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about what you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement. I think people might be broken."
