'Brown' Review, Karisma Kapoor Leaves Lasting Impact With Her Powerful Role, Fans Call It 'Gripping'

The queen of acting, Karisma Kapoor is back with a blockbuster show named Brown. For the unversed, the show dropped on June 5, 2026, on the streaming platform, Zee5. Well, Brown, directed by Abhinay Deo is a crime thriller, which explores the themes of murder mystery, trauma, grief, corruption and more. The plotline of Brown

Karisma Kapoor’s recently released show, Brown follows a police inspector, ‘Rita’ (played by Karisma), who has stepped away from duty after dealing with a personal tragedy. A previous case claimed the life of her husband (played by singer, Shaan) and the loss of her unborn child, leaving ‘Rita’ shattered. To cope up with it, she drowns herself in alcoholism. The show picks up speed when ‘Rita’ is called to investigate the death of a woman. While things seem normal and simple in the beginning, it soon takes a complicated turn when ‘Rita’ realises that every suspect in the case has something interesting to hide.

Slowly and gradually, ‘Rita’, along with another inspector, ‘Arjun Sinha’ (played by Surya Sharma) try to discover every single piece of information to solve the mysterious case. Throughout the case, they also come across a larger political conspiracy. The strength of the show is its story. Viewers are not expected to have any dull moments as every single episode ends with a major cliffhanger. Apart from this, the city, Kolkata too plays an important role. Since the show is set in Kolkata, the city’s backdrop makes it easier for the viewers to connect with the plot.

Karisma Kapoor steals the spotlight in Brown with her stellar performance

The acting by the lead cast, Karisma Kapoor and Surya Sharma is the highlight of the show. Karisma Kapoor delivers a stunning performance in the show. Her mature screen presence perfectly portrays all her traumas and complications. On the other hand, Surya Sharma is shown as a powerful yet vulnerable police officer. His tragic past also adds a layer to the story. Lastly, Jishu Sengupta is also a part of the show. Even though his screen time is very less, he leaves a lasting impact on the audience.

The climax of Brown is predictable

Despite having multiple highlights and plus points, overall the show, Brown fails to impress the audience because of its climax. Well, as per audience reviews, the climax of the show is very predictable. Apart from this, the final parts of the show feels dragged slow. In simple words, Brown had the chance to be one of the greatest crime thrillers of recent times; however, it failed due to its predictability and poor climax.
