Kareena Kapoor has always been the favourite actress of Bollywood and is known for her outspoken persona and bubbly nature. Unlike any other actresses of her generation, she is far from being shy and never frets away from speaking her mindful. The granddaughter of eminent film actor, Raj Kapoor, Kareena has indeed been a talented actress who has kept it up to her family name and has been loved by millions of fans for the same. On the other hand, much like her professional career, her personal life has also been very similar to it where she has been through quite a few buzzing relationships, which included some of her co-actors such as Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Fardeen Khan before she finally settled down with her husband, Saif Ali Khan in 2012.
Kareena Kapoor has been in quite a few relationships throughout her bachelor life up until she married Saif Ali Khan. However, it was in one of her earliest interviews where she had revealed that she was never inclined towards dating an already-married man. This came at a time when there was a strong buzz that something was definitely brewing between her and her Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon co-star, Hrithik Roshan. For the unversed, Hrithik by then, was already married to his wife, Sussanne and the duo was even parents to their first child, Hrehaan. In an old interview with Filmfare, Kareena had rebuffed all such rumours and clarified how she would not do something like that which would be detrimental to her career. In her words:
“Please give me a break. I am neither besotted with married men nor will I have affairs with them. Married men would be detrimental to my career. Yes, no married men for me.”
While Kareena might have rubbished rumours of being in a relationship with an already-married man, Hrithik Roshan, however, their jodi on the silver-screen was a treat for the audience who, simply could not refuse to disbelieve that they were not together in their real life as well. Films like Yaadein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham have been rendered iconic because of Hrithik and Kareena’s pairing. Well, Kareena once opened up on being frequently paired with Hrithik and mentioned that obviously, since they looked smashingly good on the silver screen hence they were often chosen together to play the leads. In her words:
“Ask the producers, directors and distributors why all of them are hell-bent on signing Duggu and me together. Quite obviously because we are a hot pair. We're being hyped like the Amitabh Bachchan-Rekha, Dharmendra-Hema Malini pair. That's not fair to us at all. Yaadein was a family drama, not a love story. In Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, you'll see us as a romantic pair. But you can't deny that we look smashing together. So the audience will just have to hold their horses for a while.''
Whether accepted or denied, Hrithik and Kareena shared a great bond together and seemed like an almost perfect duo on the silver screen. While it was unsure if they dated one another or not, they did have a great friendship and proof of the same was found in the hilarious banters they had off-screen. Spilling beans about it, Kareena once spoke about the most annoying habit she witnessed about her co-star, Hrithik Roshan while shooting the film, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham with him. She mentioned:
“That's because he is such a child. He has this irritating habit of taking soooo long in front of the mirror before a shot. On the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham even Kajol would get irritated with him. Especially since it is very hot on the sets.''
Kareena Kapoor has indeed worked with some of the most handsome actors across generations, whose mere looks have been enough to make countless women go weak in their knees. But when it came to the real-life Kareena herself, she never felt anything different or special about the looks of her co-star, no matter how handsome they may be. Speaking about the same, she mentioned:
“I am here to act. It does not bother me whether my co-star is Fardeen Khan, Abhishek Bachchan or Hrithik Roshan. Please I am not distracted by crowds, heat or big names. Only food can distract me. Actually, I've even kicked my obsession with food.''
Well, Kareena has been quite broad-minded about many different aspects of her life and always tends to see the brighter things among everything. Proof of the same was found in one of her interviews, where she revealed her mature take on infidelity. However, she also mentioned her strict rejection of being cheated on and insisted that the man of her life should be clear in his conscience. In her words:
“But why is infidelity being made such an issue? Men cheat on their women, that's as old as the hills. It's possible for a man to love more than one woman. But hey, it's possible for a woman to be in love with more than one man too. That is fair and square. But what frustrates me is when men don't own up to the women they love. Men can be quite gutless. There's a difference between love and attraction. I wouldn't like my man to cheat on me. Neither would I cheat on him. If I found out that my man's unfaithful, I'd slaughter him. No tears, no shor-sharaba."
Right from her days of debut in the Hindi film industry, Kareena Kapoor has always weighted doing films rather than boosting her personal life and it wasn’t until she met her soulmate that she allowed anyone unwarranted to come and approach her. Speaking about the same in an interview, Kareena mentioned how for the longest period of her bachelor life, she did not let any man touch her or even allow them to come near her, until she thought it appropriate. In her words:
“I've never let men come close to me. I am too scared. I can't handle the pain, the distractions, the heartache. It's always been women who have left a lasting impression. I am single because I am too crazy, I am too involved with my work. Maybe I intimidate men. In any case, I can't call up eligible men and ask them to go out with me.''
What do you think about Kareena’s take on never dating married men?
