It was on the sets of the film, Hastey Hastey when Karan Mehra had met Nisha Rawal, in which she was the actress and he was the stylist. After falling head-over-heels in love, Karan and Nisha had tied the knot in 2012. After five years of marital bliss, Nisha and Karan had become parents with the arrival of their baby boy, Kavish Mehra. But it seems like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame, Karan Mehra and Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki fame, Nisha Rawal's love story has come to an end as the couple is heading for divorce.

On May 31, 2021, Karan Mehra was arrested from his Mumbai home over a complaint made by his wife, Nisha Rawal. According to the complaint, Nisha had stated that Karan had pushed her against the wall, leading to a head injury. However, shortly after, Karan was granted bail. After getting out, Karan had stated that Nisha had played the bechari girl card and she herself had banged her head on the wall and staged her injury.
On June 1, 2021, Nisha held a press conference and shared her side of the story to the media. Nisha had stated that Karan was having an extra-marital affair, which she got to know a couple of months back. Nisha also revealed that she confronted Karan and he accepted cheating on her. Now, according to the reports of Hindustan Times, Karan talked about Nisha’s allegations and called them baseless.
According to the report, Karan denied cheating on Nisha and said, “All these allegations are bound to come up and I will be linked with many people. These stories are baseless. I haven’t cheated on her and I am not having an extramarital affair.”
In an interview with the Bombay Times, Nisha had revealed that she has been a victim of domestic violence for a long time. She had said, "One of the charges filed by me against him is of domestic violence. I hadn’t spoken about it for so many years as I understand that for an actor his career and image are of utmost importance. In spite of being considerate and compassionate, I have had to face something like this."

Nisha had also shared that Karan has sold her wedding jewellery and has taken charge of all her income. She had said, "I don’t even know what my loan account numbers, my property papers are because you trust your partner. I invested in a relationship with complete faith. I finally told him that you are having an affair, you are not happy with me, you don’t want to live with me, but now we have a child. If I wasn’t a mother, I would have walked out. But that’s not the case. I would have still walked out if he had left anything for me from my earnings. He has sold my wedding jewellery as well. I don’t know where I felt short as a wife. I have supported him financially, given my all. Despite everything, he has been misbehaving and talking ill about my mother."
