Karan Johar is one of the talented filmmakers in the Hindi film industry at the moment. He is credited to have created some of the most iconic films in the history of Indian cinema, which are still recounted as classics by the cine lovers. Apart from his directorial talents, Karan has also contributed equally to produce some other massive films, under his banner, Dharma Productions, and has also launched some of the most prominent faces in the industry.
At the recent press conference post the success of his last released film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Karan Johar opened up on a special anecdote from one of his other films, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The filmmaker revealed that the plot of the story actually came from his real-life, one-sided love story, which he had with a person from within his family. Karan further mentioned finding it difficult to watch the film, as according to its plot, the character concerned, played by Anushka Sharma dies, while the real person still lives on. Revealing how the film made him get over a complicated love situation in his life, Karan mentioned:
“It was initially awkward because his character dies. The character obviously went through a fictional arc as well, but it was cathartic for me to tell that story, because I felt that really helped me get over that love situation.”

Spilling more beans about that particular episode in his life, where he had to bear the pangs of a one-sided, unrequited love, Karan mentioned that it had made him see the worst version of himself. He revealed facing anxiety, torment and pain all at the same time. In his words:
“Anyone who has been through one-sided love, ektarfa pyaar, that heartbreak… I saw the worst version of myself, not as a human being, but I was pitiful in that zone. When you stare at your phone waiting for it to ring, when you want that message and that message changes your day, when your heart really hurts – it’s a physical pain, it’s not just symbolic, it’s painful – and you wake up with that anxiety, and when you see that person with somebody else and it breaks you into a million pieces… You realise that love can make you and break you and tear you apart.”
In one of his candid revelations with Anaita Adajania on the show, Feet Up With The Stars, Karan Johar had opened up about his dating life. Known to be one of the most eligible bachelors in Tinseltown, Karan had revealed that he does not like casual flings and dating. Instead, he emphasised the need to feel a certain level of comfort with his partner, with whom he can converse and interact on a deeper intellectual level.

When Karan mentioned that he has never been in any serious relationships in his life
In one of his previous interviews with Rajeev Masand, Karan Johar had shared candid anecdotes about his fatherhood journey with his twins, Roohi and Yash, whom he had welcomed via surrogacy. The filmmaker mentioned that he finds the love of his children the purest ones that he ever felt, and added that although he hasn’t ever been into any kind of serious relationship at all, this new phase of his life has treated him in the best possible way ever.
