When Kalki opened up about being misunderstood as a white girl in India

In one of her earlier interviews with Siddhaarth Aalambayan on the show, The Male Feminist, Kalki Koechlin revealed how during her initial years in the city, she was often mistaken as a white girl, and so she was often enquired for carrying drugs with her. Moreover, she revealed how the minute she used to start speaking fluently in Tamil, these people immediately changed their tones and started to refer her as akka. She mentioned:

“I saw it very young because I was asked for drugs. Because I was the only white girl in my group so it was about loose morals, the white girls’ phenomenon. They watch Baywatch and think everyone is like that. The minute I would answer back in Tamil, they would be like Akka, sister. Suddenly their perspective of you changes just because you speak in their language."

When Kalki recalled her changed relationship dynamics with beau, after the birth of their daughter

In one of her previous interviews with Zoom, Kalki Koechlin had remarked about how her equation with her beau, Guy Hershberg changed after they welcomed their baby girl, Sappho. She spoke about how their chemistry changed and evolved completely, and overall have landed in a better space. In her words:

“We are constantly competing for romantic-ness. No, it's not the same. I've become a parent. Hello, where's our sex life. It's gone. It's like bye bye, what is that. It's like forgotten. It's been a tough year. They say that first two, three of having children, 80 per cent of couples go through therapy or break up. We haven't done either of those things, but it's been tough. We're getting into a better place since Sappho is less needy.”
