Big Boss 17 is undoubtedly one of the most talked about shows nowadays. From the lovers spat between Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain, to ugly fights amongst the contestants, every little issue has been garnering a lot of attention from the audience. For the unversed, last week, Sunny Aryaa, aka Tehelka, got evicted from the Big Boss house.
After welcoming Samarth Jurel and Manasvi Mamgai as wild card entries into the Big Boss house, the show is again gearing up for another contestant's entry. On December 7, 2023, the official Instagram page of Colors TV dropped a teaser from the show, Big Boss 17’s upcoming episode, which gave us a glimpse of a wild card entry. It is none other than the popular South Korean singer, Aoora. Only a partial view of Aoora's face was shown in the short video. He sang the song, Woh Kisna Hai and spoke in Hindi. He said, “Janam se videsi, but dil se ekdum desi”. The Instagram video post is captioned as:
“Jab hogi wild card entry of the biggest K-Pop sensation, tab badal jaayegi ghar ke andar ki situation.”
Aoora, whose real name is Park Min Jun, is a South Korean singer and composer, who was once a part of the K-pop boy band, Double-A and its subunit, Aoora&Hoik. He first started his musical journey in 2009, with the song, Love Back. Later, Aoora ventured into his solo career and released his first single, Body Part, in 2014. Time and again, Aoora has proved his love for India. From trying Indian cuisine to dancing to the beats of classic Bollywood songs, he has done it all. Not only that, the 37-year-old K-pop idol has even released renditions of several hit Hindi songs.
However, netizens have shared their thoughts on the same in the comment section of the post uploaded by Colors TV. People seem to be confused about Aoora, they don’t know who he is. Some are even saying that the 17th season of the show, Big Boss is on its way to becoming a flop show. A user wrote, “Flop season, flop people.” Another one says, “Kisi strong personality ko laate ye kya jhingur ko utha ke laa rahe hai biggboss wale.” Check out the comments:
In September of last year, Aoora's cover of the song, Swag Se Swagat received one million views. During the same month, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department announced that Aoora would be performing a series of concerts across India as part of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and South Korea. On his Instagram page, Aoora has shared multiple videos of himself singing Hindi songs and has also posted many pictures of his travels in India.
Aoora has even released ‘K-pop versions’ of the eighties hit songs, Auva Auva and Jimmy Jimmy. In an interview with Rolling Stones, the K-pop idol revealed why he ventured into the Indian music industry. He said:
“I became familiar with Indian music almost a year back when I first heard the ‘Cham Cham’ song. I felt the energy of Indian songs – not just Bollywood but also Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi – matched with my energy and liking. I started exploring more Indian music. I wanted to explore a music genre where I could bring both Indian and K-pop music elements together. That is when we approached Saregama with this idea. They were enthusiastic about this experiment, and that’s how this new journey started for me.”
What do you think about Aoora’s entry into the Big Boss 17 house?
