Will Kendra Divorce Joseph Duggar Amid His Molestation Charges? Family Says, 'She Needs A New Life'

The former reality TV star from TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, Joseph Duggar, is in the news after his arrest on charges of inappropriate sexual advances towards a minor. Joseph Duggar, one of the 19 Duggar siblings, was recently arrested in Florida under lewd and lascivious charges involving a minor. The incident happened in 2020, during a family vacation, when the victim was only nine years old.

Joseph Duggar’s family urges his wife, Kendra Duggar, to divorce him

After two days of Joseph’s arrest, his wife, Kendra Duggar, too, was arrested on a separate set of child endangerment and false imprisonment charges. Both Kendra and Joseph were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment after an investigation. Kendra was soon released on bond, but Joseph is still in prison.

Amid the fiasco and disturbing incident, Joseph’s family urges Kendra to divorce him. Duggar family patriarch's sister, Deanna Duggar told Page Six that she feels that Kendra should divorce Joseph amid the recent allegations against him. In her words:

“The way I feel about it is, I think Kendra should divorce him. She needs a new life. The best thing to do would be to divorce him and go on with her life. I don’t know what the charges are going to be for Kendra. I don’t know, we’re all waiting to see. While my heart goes out to her, I know there has been some wrong decisions. My prayers are for the victims. For Kendra, for Joseph, for the whole family, wake up and repent of their pride, their feeling of the world is against them, get things right in their family.”

What offence did Joseph Duggar commit?

Joseph Duggar was arrested on charges of "lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor". The Bay County Sheriff's Office released a statement following his arrest and shared disturbing details about his unlawful sexual activities with a then-nine-year-old child during a family vacation in Florida. The victim, now 14, disclosed multiple incidents during the forensic interview, detailing disturbing and inappropriate behaviour, including inappropriate physical contact in private. 

What did the victim say in the affidavit for Joseph Duggar's arrest warrant?

The minor told investigators that her interactions with Joseph started casually, but it later became inappropriate, and she reportedly felt uncomfortable with his approach towards her. According to the affidavit, Joseph reportedly asked her to "sit on his lap, numerous times". The situation turned worse when Joseph started making more inappropriate advances towards the minor. She also revealed that Joseph started asking her to "sit on the couch beside him" and then "covered the parties with a blanket," before pulling her dress up and touching her inappropriately.
