In a piece of tragic news, it has been revealed that Jennifer Finch has passed away. For those unaware, she was the bassist of the punk rock band L7. According to reports, Jennifer was 59 years old when she breathed her last. Her band announced the heartbreaking news on social media. Now, amid her death, Jennifer's personal life has come into focus.

Jennifer Finch defended her ex-boyfriend amid his cheating scandal

Jennifer Finch had dated fellow rocker Dave Grohl back in the ‘90s. Recently, when Dave came under fire for his cheating scandal, Jennifer was the one who defended him publicly. Dave made headlines when he suddenly announced on his Instagram account that he had fathered a child out of wedlock, despite being married to his wife, Jordyn Blum, for 21 years.

At the time of the announcement, the couple shared three children together: daughters Violet Maye, Harper Willow, and Ophelia Saint. Without making any comments about the mother of his new baby, Dave wrote:

“I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

Following the revelation, Jennifer Finch spoke with TMZ about the matter, claiming that the Foo Fighters singer was “doing everything he can for his family” as he navigates the troubling time. She revealed that she had been privy to Dave’s “family dynamic” while on tour with his band and described him as a “top-tier dad and friend.” According to her, Dave had been “giving it his all in spite of the messy situation” involving his family.

Jennifer had revealed at the time that she and Dave Grohl had remained on friendly terms ever since their relationship came to an end years ago. She added that she would not go into the details of it, at least for the next 18 years, when his newborn daughter would become a legal adult.

How did Jennifer Finch die?

Jennifer Finch passed away on July 18, 2026. As we mentioned, her rock band, L7, confirmed her death via an Instagram post. The post can be read as:

"We are shattered by the loss of our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch, whose fierce spirit, humor and boundless creativity helped shape L7 and changed all of our lives forever. Jennifer was a true original who lived entirely on her own terms, and the impact she made on music, art, and everyone lucky enough to know her cannot be measured. We love her beyond words and will carry her with us always. Rest in power, our dear friend."

As per reports, Jennifer had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. She was seeking treatment for the same and had talked about it just a few days before her passing. She shared that when she was first diagnosed, she thought that she would soon be treated with radiation. However, to her dismay, she had to undergo multiple surgeries.

These surgeries, according to Jennifer, had left her with a number of physical limitations. This prompted her to seek extensive medical care afterwards.

Reacting to the news of Jennifer Finch’s death, a social media user wrote, “A day after Cassie of The Venomous Pink’s first posthumous birthday, damn. Such a fixture in the punk world for so long, much love to her friends, family, and anyone else personally impacted by this. L7’s been one of the greatest bands since they started; hard to imagine a world without them."

Another user penned, “Dammm… I wish her family well. I loved seeing L7 live in Manhattan in the early 90’s. Always a great performance!"

Rest in peace, Jennifer Finch.
