According to a Martin County Sheriff's Office incident report, Jennifer Eckhart's mother found her dead in the bathtub with a large laceration. There was a knife by her side, and initial investigation revealed she had taken her own life. The former Fox News producer's passing also brought the limelight to one of the biggest controversies surrounding her life.
For those who don't know, Jennifer Eckhart had filed a lawsuit against Ed Henry. While there is no established connection between the lawsuit and her death, the incident comes after Jennifer settled her lawsuit against Ed. She had worked at Fox for seven years before leaving the network. However, it was in 2020 that she filed a civil lawsuit alleging that Henry had sexually assaulted her while they both worked there.
She also alleged that he took photographs of her for purposes of blackmail that could destroy her career. Ed Henry denied the allegations and maintained that their relationship was consensual. After Jennifer Eckhart's complaints, Ed was fired in 2020. Jennifer filed a lawsuit against Ed and also named Fox News as a defendant. Fox News was later dismissed from the case.
The remaining claims against Ed Henry were settled in June 2025, about a year before Jennifer Eckhart's death. Now, with the 36-year-old's demise, Ed is once again in the limelight. According to reports, he is working as a chief news anchor at Newsmax and hosts Ed Henry: The Big Take on Newsmax2. He previously helmed The Briefing, American Sunrise, and America's Newsroom. His LinkedIn profile lists his location as West Palm Beach, Florida.
Who is Ed Henry?
For those who are not familiar with Ed Henry, he is an American journalist and former Fox News anchor who spent years covering US politics and the White House for major news organizations. Born on July 20, 1971, he is 55 years old as of September 2026. He studied English at Siena College in Loudonville, New York, and began his journalism career in print before moving into television.
He spent eight years at Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, where he worked as a senior editor and columnist. Ed Henry also worked with investigative journalist Jack Anderson. He later joined CNN in 2004 as a Washington correspondent and covered Capitol Hill and presidential campaigns before moving into White House reporting. Ed soon became CNN’s senior White House correspondent.
His reporting earned him the Merriman Smith Award for excellence in presidential coverage in 2008. He also received the Everett Dirksen Award for distinguished reporting on Congress. Talking about his personal life, Ed Henry got married to Shirley Hung in 2010. She is a former CNN senior producer. The couple has two children, a son named Patrick and a daughter named Mila. Apart from that, he is also known for donating part of his liver to his sister, Colleen, in 2019.
