During her appearance at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival, Jaya Bachchan heaped praise on Bimal Roy and the kind of work she has done.

Jaya Bachchan also expressed her displeasure over present-day films while stating that the filmmaking of today's time is mostly about business, and people no longer care about anything else other than numbers. The veteran actress also slammed the explicit scenes in present-day movies and stated that people are not ashamed about doing such scenes anymore as they have forgotten subtlety. Jaya also said how an open display of love and affection is tagged as 'smart' in today's time. Although she never openly mentioned anything about Aishwarya or ADHM, her take on the explicit scenes in movies was seemingly a sneaky dig at the same time. Jaya could be quoted as saying:
"Earlier, filmmakers created art. Today, it’s a business and all about numbers. Everything is thrown at our face. People have forgotten subtlety. Open display of affection is considered smart… sharam naam ki toh cheez hee nahi hai.”
While Jaya Bachchan slammed the explicit scenes in present-day movies by seemingly taking a jibe at Aishwarya's role in ADHM, Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, reportedly showered his bahurani for her role in the same movie. As per several reports, while giving a speech at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival, Amitabh talked about the female portrayal in the present-day film, and while doing the same, he also uttered some good words about his daughter-in-law. The veteran actor reportedly said that Aishwarya's character 'Saba' in ADHM has 'turned the tables for men'.
