Janhvi Kapoor has emerged as one of the most popular actresses at the moment. Daughter of talented actress, late Sridevi and filmmaker, Boney Kapoor, Janhvi has carved her own way in the film industry and has mesmerised millions of audiences with her impressive performances. However, despite the success she scored in her own merit, the diva often faces unfair comparisons with her mother’s grand filmography. And now, Janhvi revealed the one salient advice that she received from her mother herself.
In an interaction with Elle, Janhvi Kapoor recalled her mother, Sridevi’s advice to her, when she, at the age of 26, decided to become an actress. She mentioned how her mother used to have quite a lot conversations with her, as the late actress discussed Janhvi’s take on the showbiz industry. Moreover, Sridevi even told her daughter to be prepared for the highly unjust comparisons she would face with the former’s extensive filmography. In her words:
“My mother would have given me more advice than she did, especially leading up to my first film. Until then, our discussions about movies were limited to my observations of her reactions to films we watched together as a family. When I expressed my interest in filmmaking, she emphasised that I should be prepared for inevitable comparisons between my debut and her extensive filmography—something she considered inherently unfair.”

Speaking along the same lines, Janhvi then revealed how her mother, Sridevi taught her not to pay any heed to such comparisons. She recalled her mom asking her to remain authentic no matter what and never back out from hard work. She mentioned:
“She [Sridevi] stressed the importance of being the most authentic version of myself, experiencing emotions organically, and working diligently, underscoring the mantra ‘no pain, no gain.”
Previously, in an interview with Galatta Plus, Janhvi Kapoor reminisced shooting her debut film, Dhadak and remarked that her mommy, Sridevi was there on the shooting location. She added that although she had asked her mother to not come near the vicinity, as she would be extremely nervous about her mother’s presence. However, Sridevi managed to see her daughter give her first-ever shot, by hiding behind a tree.

Back in 2018, talented actress, Sridevi left everyone shocked with the news of her unexpected passing away. The diva accidentally drowned in her hotel’s bathtub, as she was attending a family wedding in Dubai. In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Janhvi talked about her mother’s demise and mentioned how the incident occurred just a few months before she made her debut with the film, Dhadak. She then added:
“I think definitely when I lost mom. I was shooting for Dhadak, and dealing with her loss was quite tough, and also somehow finding the will to keep working but also finding a way to deal with all of these things happening in our lives was tough. Figuring that out was definitely the biggest war in my life."
