James Handy's Neighbour Recalls His First 'Confrontation' With The Actor's Murderer, Michael

The much-loved Hollywood actor, James Handy has tragically passed away. For those who do not know, the actor, who was best-known for films like Logan, Top Gun: Maverick, Jumanji and more was found dead on June 3, 2026, after his girlfriend, Wendy’s son, Michael Gledhill stabbed him on his chest, claiming his life. Now, his neighbour recalled his first conversation with Wendy’s son, Michael.

James Handy’s girlfriend, Wendy’s son, Michael has officially been charged for killing the Hollywood actor at his home. As per authorities, Michael stabbed him with a sharp weapon like a knife. Amid that, PEOPLE had a conversation with one of James’ neighbour, in which he recalled his first interaction with Michael. The neighbour, Jerry Merill has shifted to a house next-door to James Handy nearly 2.5 years ago; however, it was only six months ago that he first saw Michael.

Jerry Merill recalled their first interaction and described it as a ‘confrontation’. Further, he revealed that he used to see Michael walk around the neighborhood. It is worth mentioning that after James Handy’s death, the police obtained CCTV footage, which showed Michael on a walk. As per PEOPLE, Jerry was quoted as saying:

"On occasion, I would go to help bring garbage bins out and back, and he would see me and duck into the house and be avoided. It was a pretty common occurrence for him to just sort of walk around the neighborhood. So on this particular occasion, something horrible had happened, and he was just living in his own space and taking his walk around the neighborhood."

Further, during the conversation, James Handy’s neighbour spoke about the actor’s girlfriend, Wendy and how she raised a murderer. He described the incident as ‘shocking’ and ‘horrible’ and explained that he can’t stop thinking of Wendy. He said:

"That's her baby. She gave birth to this little baby boy [and] was all excited. And now that story has come to an end, as [she] raised a murderer. The other man in her life is dead as a result. It's horrible. It's really bad."

Along with Jerry, PEOPLE also spoke to another neighbour named Aaron Titelman, who spoke about the actor and his girlfriend living in that area for nearly three years. However, Aaron stated that he never knew Michael also was living with them. Aaron praised James and his girlfriend and mentioned that they were very friendly like all other neighbours. He also stated that he feels bad for not being able to meet James Handy before his unexpected death. In his words:

"They're just always really friendly, just like most of the neighbors around here. Good people and always welcoming and friendly. I was lucky I had the chance to at least interact with them. I really regret the fact that I didn't take advantage and just see him one last time. Life's too short. You hear about these things in the news, and it never happens to someone that you know, but this one definitely landed at our back doorstep."
