Bollywood actress, Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the most down-to-earth celebrities in the industry. Though the actress has time and again proved her acting mettle in various films, she was once judged for her performance in a 2011 film. It so happened that when Jacqueline featured in the psychological thriller, Murder 2, she was compared with Mallika Sherawat, who was the lead in the original film, Murder, opposite Emraan Hashmi, in 2004. However, that left Jacqueline irked and once she reacted to the same.
In an interview with Rediff, Jacqueline Fernandez reacted to her role getting compared with Mallika Sherawat and revealed that these comparisons bothered her. She also mentioned that both films had different stories and thus, making comparisons wasn't fair. However, the actress added that she had no complaints when people compared her to Mallika and said:
“It bothers me when my role in Murder 2 is getting compared to Mallika Sherawat. The stories are not the same, and it doesn’t make any sense to make any comparisons. On a personal level, I don’t have any complaints when people compare me to her."
Further in the interview, Jacqueline heaped praises on Mallika and revealed that she was not trying to replace her as the next sex bomb. The actress also mentioned that Mallika should be applauded for who she is today as the latter is unafraid to be herself. Adding that she is trying to be versatile, Jacqueline said:
"For me, Mallika Sherawat is someone who is so real and is unafraid to be herself. She speaks her mind and in an industry which is quite fake, she is someone who is completely different. She needs to be applauded for where she is today. I don’t want to replace her. I am not trying to be a sex bomb or the next sexy actress on the block. I am trying to be versatile and it will reflect in the movies I’m doing or will do in future."
When Jacqueline Fernandez was cast opposite Emraan Hashmi in the film, Murder 2, she was all praise for Mallika Sherawat, who was the lead actress in Murder. Jacqueline, during a promotional event at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in 2011, stated that Mallika is extremely daring. The actress was quoted as saying:
"I have seen Murder and I loved Mallika's performance. I think she is extremely daring and that's something we can all learn from her. As an actress, it's so nice to see someone so bold, so daring and so brave and I think that's what she stands for, which is great."
Jacqueline Fernandez made her Bollywood debut with the film, Aladin, opposite Riteish Deshmukh in 2009. However, the film did not perform well at the box office and failed to impress the audience. Over the years, Jacqueline appeared in many films like Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Race 2 and Judwaa 2. She was last seen in Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus in 2022, and her fans are excited to see her ruling the silver screen once again.
