Popular television actress, Mreenal Deshraj is often hailed as one of the most followed fashionistas from the telly world. With her performances in shows like Bharat Ka Veer Putra — Maharana Pratap, Doli Saja Ke and Naagin 3, she has already created a name for herself in the entertainment industry. However, while she has achieved quite a success on the professional front, her personal life suffered a lot of hiccups. The actress had once admitted that she had dated five men in her life, but none of her relationships could pass the test of time. However, after all the heartbreaks, Mreenal finally found her soulmate and got engaged to him.
Mreenal Deshraj and Ashim Matthan got engaged on June 9, 2022, in the presence of their respective family members, relatives and friends. The intimate engagement ceremony was held in Goa, and it was a dream come true moment for both Mreenal and Ashim. However, before getting engaged, Ashim had proposed to her for marriage in a filmy way. Thus, the much-in-love couple is now all set to tie the marital knot.

In a conversation with ETimes, Mreenal Deshraj opened up about her first meeting with the love of her life, Ashim Matthan and how it had happened. Reflecting on how she had met him for the first time at a common friend's party and their first conversation was enough for both of them to develop a liking for each other. She also added that she had felt a spark within her the moment she made eye contact with Ashim. Calling it the best evening of her life, Mreenal also admitted that it was Ashim, who had made the first move while she was waiting for the party's host to introduce them. She said:
"It would hands down be the best evening of my life (smiles). There was a spark right off the bat as soon as we locked eyes at the party. We felt a strong pull as soon as we saw each other. Soon, we started chatting with each other and before we knew it; four hours had flown by. I think the world around us just disappeared. Ashim gets extra points for making the first move because I was waiting for our host to introduce us when he walked up to me and introduced himself."
Going further in the interview, Mreenal Deshraj also opened up about her failed relationships in the past and explained how after meeting with Ashim Matthan, she had discovered that she has turned into a naive person in the recent years. Talking more about the impact Ashim has had so far in her life, Mreenal stated that she had stopped looking for love, and that's exactly when she had found him. Then, sharing her views on the beauty of love, Mreenal talked more about her idea of love and said:
"Earlier, I was under the impression that I knew what love was, but when I met Ashim, I realised that I was quite naïve in that space. I've been open and honest about my understanding of an ideal partner, my past relationships, and how I have been unsuccessful in love before. But just when I had given up on finding love, I met Ashim. Safe to say that love caught me unawares when I stopped hunting for it (smiles). My idea of love is very simple – partners can be poles apart but their values must match and that's what sustains love and earns respect."

In the same interview, Mreenal Deshraj also confirmed the ongoing reports about the huge age difference of 10 years between her and Ashim Matthan. Reflecting on the age gap, the actress clearly stated that for her and Ashim, age is just a number, and mentally they're young and full of life. However, Mreenal also explained why certain couples worry about their age difference and also shared her way of dealing with the stigma around getting old. She explained:
"Ashim isn't mentally 34 and I'm not mentally 43. So, we're somewhere in between and that's where we connect. Most people worry about age differences because of the assumption that the older half of the couple will slow down in life because of aging. While that is true, there are trendsetters in all age groups and that makes me think that everything is a state of mind. You won't slow down if you don't want to slow down."
In the end of the interview, Mreenal Deshraj also answered the much-asked question on social media by her million fans which is 'when she is getting married to Ashim Matthan?' Answering this, Mreenal shared that she and Ashim are working on the dates right now, and soon they will announce their wedding date in the media. She said:
"Marriage is the next step. A relationship is one thing but once the marriage is on the table, two families get involved. We will tie the knot soon and are currently working on the dates."
