On June 28, 2022, the Ambani clan had made an announcement that Mukesh Ambani had stepped down from his position in Reliance Jio and his elder son, Akash Ambani has taken over the same. Mukesh Ambani had handed all the responsibility of the telecom unit, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. to the new chairman, Akash Ambani.

As per a report in Bloomberg, Mukesh Ambani’s daughter, Isha Ambani Piramal is all set to be named as the chairman of Reliance conglomerate’s retail unit in another sign that her father is pushing ahead. The report states that Isha, who is currently the director of Reliance Retail Ventures is set to helm the RIL group. A formal announcement would be made soon as per the inside source.
Isha Ambani’s promotion was followed up after her twin brother, Akash Ambani ascended the position of chairman of the telecom unit. Isha and Akash have been part of teams that negotiated Meta Platforms Inc.’s investment in the group and have been on board of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. and JioMart since 2014.

For the unversed, Isha Ambani was ranked second on Forbes' 'Youngest Billionaire Heiresses' list in 2008. Successfully carrying forward her family’s legacy, Isha, an Ivy-League graduate from Yale University with a degree in psychology and South Asian studies, has carved her niche in the business world. Isha had added ‘Piramal’ to her surname after tying the knot with business tycoon, Anand Piramal, son of billionaire Ajay Piramal and Swati Piramal on December 12, 2018.
Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani had once graced Simi Garewal's chat show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, where Mrs Ambani had revealed how her husband wanted their kids to be good human beings. Talking about the same, she had said:
"Mukesh Ambani is a very down-to-earth person and he wants his children to become good human beings. Mukesh always wants his children to understand the value of money and he says that money doesn’t grow on trees, rather one has to work hard to earn money."
For the unversed, Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio are subsidiaries of the family's oil-to-telecom conglomerate.
