Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle has taken a new dramatic turn, but it seems like the case is far from over. For those unaware, a recent court order has dismissed Blake's claims, shifting the momentum towards Justin Baldoni, leading netizens to wonder if he is out of legal trouble. However, legal experts say the situation is even more complex than it appears.
According to legal experts, Justin Baldoni got a major win after the court dismissed most of Blake Lively's claims against him. But it does not mean he is out of legal trouble. As per Entertainment litigation attorney, Gregory L. Doll, called the rule a "huge blow" to Blake Lively and a "huge win" for Justin Baldoni. He explained that proving the remaining claims, such as retaliation and damages, could be difficult in the future. From a legal viewpoint, Gregory believes that Justin's legal ,troubles have diminished and that his case is now stronger. In Gregory's words:
"It's a huge blow to Blake's side, and it's a huge win for Justin. I think she's got a tough road… proving retaliation and damages is going to be really difficult to do."

However, not all the experts agree that Justin is out of legal trouble. According to People, another attorney, Megan Thomas, explained that Justin is "not off the hook." He hinted that the remaining claims against the actor-filmmaker have weight. She believes that cases often become stronger and more focused when weak claims are removed. Megan explained that the remaining claims, such as retaliation and breach of contract, are significant and backed by evidence. It means that although Justin has avoided some serious accusations, the legal matters have not ended. Explaining her point, Megan said
"The claims that remain, breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting retaliation, are more substantial and will move forward. But her remaining claims appear to be strong, and she has ample evidence."

After nearly a year, a court hearing was held in the case involving Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, marking a significant turn in the case. The judgment dismissed 10 out of 13 claims made by Blake Lively, including sexual harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. They were mostly removed based on legal grounds rather than factual truths. For example, the court found that Blake Lively was working as an independent contractor, not an employee. So, some federal protections did not apply to her.

Moreover, other issues such as where the film was shot played an important role in the dismissal of state-level claims. The ruling also clarified that Justin Baldoni is not liable for the remaining claims. Instead, the case would now primarily proceed against the companies involved, including the production entity behind the film. Despite this, the lawsuit is still moving forward and the next trial is scheduled for May 18, 2026. Meanwhile, both Justin and Blake are expected to testify, indicating the dispute is far from resolved.

The Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively case stems from events surrounding the shooting of their film, It Ends With Us. Justin served as a director and lead actor, while Blake played the lead opposite him and produced the film. After the film's release, Blake filed a complaint against Justin in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment, breach of contract, emotional distress, and trying to damage her reputation with a coordinated smear campaign.

These allegations gained the spotlight in Hollywood. On the other hand, Justin had regularly denied all the accusations and filed a USD 400 million countersuit against Blake, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their PR team for defamation. However, that countersuit was dismissed in 2025, complicating the legal matter between the two parties.
