India's World Cup-winning captain and women's team star Harmanpreet Kaur has recently announced her decision to step down from her role. In a long social media post, the 37-year-old announced her decision to step down and said it was a tough choice. Amid Harmanpreet’s announcement, all eyes are now on her personal life, especially her husband.

Who is Harmanpreet Kaur’s husband?

Soon after Harmanpreet Kaur announced her decision to step down as captain of the Indian Women's cricket team, people started obsessively searching for more about her marital status. However, reports say the dynamic cricketer is not married yet. Harmanpreet is known for keeping her personal life out of the media glare, so little about her dating life is available in the public domain.

Previously, there was a lot of chatter about Harmanpreet’s marital life, and she repeatedly said she prioritises her demanding cricket career. The 37-year-old cricketer has often stated in interviews that she is fully focused on her career and the growth of women’s cricket in India.

Her commitment to the game has been unwavering ever since her international debut in 2009, and she continues to prioritise cricket above everything else. Over the years, she has been linked to fellow athletes and personalities from the cricketing fraternity, but none have ever been confirmed.

Harmanpreet Kaur announced the news of stepping down from captaincy in all formats

On October 6, 2026, Harmanpreet Kaur took to her social media handle and penned a lengthy post confirming her decision to step away from captaincy. Her decision comes after she guided India to the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. She preserved her legacy as one of India’s greatest women’s team captains.

Harmanpreet took over captaincy in 2012 on a temporary basis, and in 2016 she took the full-time captaincy of the team. Penning a heartfelt note on her role, Harmanpreet revealed that the decision was a tough call as she wrote:

“Today, I step down as captain of the Indian Women's Cricket Team across all formats. This is not an easy decision. It carries years of memories, emotions, sacrifices, and moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I feel I have done my duty. I gave this team everything I had. I carried the responsibility with pride, and I will always be grateful for the privilege of leading Indian women's cricket.”

Born in Moga, Punjab, to a humble Sikh family, Harmanpreet drew inspiration from her father, Harmandar Singh Bhullar, who was a club cricketer himself. It was her family who supported Harmanpreet throughout her journey. In many interviews, she has said her family’s belief and encouragement have been her biggest strength, especially during the tough phases of her career.

Under Harmanpreet, India won its maiden ODI World Cup last year and recently claimed a second successive gold medal at the Asian Games. She also led India to silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She led India in five Tests, 51 ODIs and 155 T20Is. But the team’s failure to qualify for the T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2026 drew heavy criticism of Harmanpreet.

Harmanpreet’s decision came after a BCCI review meeting in Guwahati to evaluate the team's trajectory in the past few months. It is believed that Smriti Mandhana is in line to replace Harmanpreet as the team's captain across all three formats.
