Irrfan Khan's Wife, Sutapa Sikdar's Inspirational Post On How He Had Dealt With Being An 'Outsider'

The year 2020 will always be remembered as one of the darkest years in the history of Indian cinema, as we lost tons of great artists this year. One such great artist was the exceptionally talented actor and great human being, Irrfan Khan. The actor was last seen in Angrezi Medium and had taken his last breath on April 29, 2020. It was on April 28, 2020, when Irrfan was admitted at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for colon infection and he had passed away the very next morning. Since then, his family has been sharing pictures and videos of him to ease the pain of their loss. However, this time around, his wife, Sutapa Sikdar has penned a long note revealing a lot of details about her husband, Irrfan's fight and experience with groupism and favouritism in Bollywood. Scroll down to know it all!

Irrfan Khan and Sutapa Sikdar

On September 30, 2020, late Bollywood actor, Irrfan Khan's wife and actress, Sutapa Sikdar took to her Facebook handle and shared a note in which she addressed the ongoing 'Insider-Outsider' debate on social media. The actress revealed that her husband, Irrfan was not called-up for parties and premiers just like any other outsider in the film industry. But the way he had dealt with those things was the reason behind his immense success in his career. Throwing light on the same, she wrote, "If you consider your work a spiritual quest you won't be sad if people didn't call you for their "parties" or did not come for your "premiers". Irrfan did not get a cover page of a film magazine for many years he did not waste his time gossiping about people or bad-mouthing nor did he get depressed, he chiselled his craft ..and refused to be part of it till he got the cover page and he did."

Going further in her note, Sutapa also revealed Irrfan was a little bit bothered by that treatment during his initial years in the industry, as he used to get upset and was on the brink of breakdown on two occasions. Sutapa revealed, "He got mostly depressed not clinically but sad, looking at the disparity in the society. Or once or twice went to the brink of breakdown, preparing for roles not because so-called insiders did not call him for holi parties. And yes no one dared make fun of him ever on any show or any channel." (Don't Miss: Are Hina Khan And Rocky Jaiswal Secretly Engaged? Suggests The Huge Diamond Ring On Her Ring Finger)

Irrfan's wife

Sutapa Sikdar also highlighted how Irrfan's hard work was recognised by Hollywood's top filmmakers, as she penned, "It's a simple thing no one owns Bollywood until or unless you think there are some people who own this industry. The Bollywood couldn't do shit about Irrfan getting Hollywood offers. I am happy! And obviously, some aren't comfortable in their skin hence you love shredding characters and strangers in the pretext of being the good wisher ..wish well for yourself and the world would be a lovely place to be."

The doting wife also revealed the thoughts her husband, Irrfan had developed after spending some time in the industry and why he had never craved to be a part of this culture of the film industry. Sutapa concluded her note as "Did he miss the parties as some call them imperative to attend to feel wanted and be part of the Bollywood? No, he didn't even feel to be part of vacuous stuff also without being cynical; he was a great believer in individual choices. But why would he have felt left out?? May I know? In one hand we call them toxic, and on the other we are offended if they don't include you. It's a weird desire you are yourself giving them the power by seeking their validation."
